Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Vanessa Richardson
With full color, glossy images on each page, this book is very pleasing to the eye and will draw in young readers with its colors and gloss. The content is very well organized, beginning with an introduction to the planet and how important water is to all creatures on earth. It goes on to describe water cycles and defines various water-related words such as condensation, evaporation, and precipitation. The book gives good explanations of how water evaporates into the atmosphere, different types of clouds, and how rain occurs. It also discusses ground water and how water is transpired through plants. The book explains how pollution, changes in temperature, and chemistry can harm the balance and cause ocean plants and animals to die. It does not give any examples of how we can change that or try to improve the current situation. The book ends with the importance of water in our lives—we are water and we need it to stay alive. There is an index and a glossary of words. This would be an excellent book to read with a middle school science class, or for a young student learning about water and its properties and functions on earth. Part of the "Nature's Changes" series.
