Meet the Author

Carter Quinn was born and raised in a very small Western Kansas town where cattle vastly outnumber humans. Because he's contrary by nature, upon graduating high school, he went east hoping to find more people like him. After stints living in places as different as Omaha, Nebraska, and Ft Lauderdale, Florida, he settled in Lawrence, Kansas, and attended the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk!). Although he still bleeds Crimson and Blue, Carter now resides in Denver, much closer to his beloved Colorado Avalanche.

    A marvelous read!

This is a novel that answers the age-old question that the majority of us seem to have for one relationship in our past: what if? What if that person came back into our life years later? Mr. Quinn delves into that question and answers it with style. It was a nice balance of coming to grips with feelings for someone new and trying to figure out feelings for an old flame simultaneously. I enjoyed Riley basically fumbling around a bit clueless until he finally realized who he was meant to be with. It wasn't your typical hero automatically knowing who the correct person is and going for it. There was a delicious sense of uncertainty that was a running theme through Riley's actions until he answered the what if? question for himself. Initially, Jason's response to Riley spending time with Eric sort of irritated me with the immaturity level, but when I thought back to some of my reactions during previous love spats, the light bulb went on. Maturity seems to fly out the window when dealing with the possibility of losing someone you love. In that aspect, it all made complete sense. Loved the book, loved the ending. Definitely looking forward to reading some more of Mr. Quinn's work!

A new voice that I want to hear more from

Riley, Eric & Jason are best friends in college - until 2 of them become even closer. But that doesn't last long & it really messes up all of their lives, especially Riley's. Finally, he finds Jason again. Now, they're moving closer themselves, until Eric comes back into the picture. Then come the usual misunderstandings, misteps & mishaps. I have to say that Jason hit me as one of the strongest, most loving heros in a long time. He wants what is best for the love of his life, even if that isn't himself. I was touched by his silence about his feelings so that Riley wouldn't feel undo pressure, but at the same time I'm screaming "go after him!" And the little surprise about Eric & Jason's relationship (even if you do kinda figure it out), is a shocker. After finishing this one, I immediately went to the author's website to find more treasures. Apparently I have to wait for more, but I will be watching for it.
