This is the first book in the Runaway Bride series, a fun read. Annamae, has left her fiance a day before the wedding, a big time baseball player. She now just wants to get away from the public eye so she decides to go visit her grandma, the she never really knew. She ends up renting a house on an apple orchard from Wynn who also is in hiding, a temporary witness program. Sparks start to fly between the two. Loved this story, had me laughing out loud at times. Loved Annamae's quirky family.

RATING 4.5 STARS The Wedding Audition is book one in the Runaway Brides series by Catherine Mann and Joanne Rock. This book was the perfect mix of sweet romance and a little bit of suspense. I loved it. Annamae Jessup has spent her life in front of the cameras, every move scripted for a reality television program involving her family. She never knew her biological father but has been raised by her step father. Her wedding is one day away. In twenty four hours she will marry the baseball star, the town’s hero. It’s just cold feet, right, normal wedding jitters. But all of a sudden she is questioning everything. Does she really love him? Is this what she really wants? “She should be happy that such a charismatic man wanted to marry her, but she could only see a life of being steamrolled. Overlooked. Fading. Coming up short.” So, in a very public way, Annamae bailed. She needed to get away from her family, from the cameras. So off she went to Beulah, Alabama. In order to move forward with her life, she needed to find out about her past. She had recently discovered that her paternal Grandmother was alive and well and living in Beulah. So what better place to start. Heath Lambert has been living in Beulah for one year. He bought the apple orchard, not out of a love of farming, but to hide. He is really a cop. And he had been deep undercover trying to bust a crime family when it all went bad. It’s only three weeks until the trial. He just has to stay hidden for a little bit longer so he can put the bad guys behind bars with his testimony. So, the last thing he needs is for a reality tv star to show up on his door step wanting to rent the carriage house. She is sure to draw unwanted attention. But it didn’t seem like she was going to go away. So, Heath decides to accommodate her. At least from his farm he can control things, keep her hidden and quiet. Not to mention the fact that she is beautiful. And it’s been a year since he has allowed himself any company of the female persuasion. But, keeping Annamae quiet is easier said then done. Heath finds himself drawn into her family drama. But he is willing to risk it because the chemistry between them is crazy strong and he simply can’t walk away from her. “What do I do now?” “Oh sweetheart, that’s the easiest question of all. You do what any girl does after a bad breakup. You find a smoking hot man and have a fling.” Annamae just walked away from a wedding she didn’t want. So the last thing she needs is to get involved with the hunky farmer. But the chemistry is hard to resist. She finds that underneath all that tough exterior is a fun, charming, sweet man. And she wants him. “Her body answered his like they’d been communicating this way for years instead of moments. No awkwardness. No worry if she was doing something right. The kiss didn’t ask questions. It answered them.” I loved this book. I’ve read several by Joanne Rock but this is my first by Catherine Mann. The characters were so endearing. And once these two gave in to their attraction, I loved their banter, their pillow talk. I felt all the tummy flutters I so love when reading a romantic scene. There is plenty of humor as well as you meet Annamae’s Grandmother and get a taste of the rest of her family. Poor Heath definitely didn’t realize what he was in store for. Will Heath survive not only the bad guys who want him dead before the trial starts, but Annamae as well?

Thus was a quick and light story about a starlet who finds her true self and her true love. Nit a lot of depth to the story but you will feel good reading it.

This is a really quick read that is sweet and funny with lots of excitement. "The Wedding Audition" by Catherine Mann and Joanne Rock is book number two in the "Runaway Brides" series. This is Wynn Rafferty and Annamae Jessup's story. Annamae is a TV star of a reality show and tied of doing what everybody wants her to do. She was to marry Boone Sullivan a baseball player. The day before her wedding, she calls off the wedding and goes on the run. She decides to go to Beulah, Alabama to find her grandmother. Annamae wants answers about her biological father. Wynn Rafferty is an uncover detective. He is hiding out on an old apple farm in Beulah, Alabama where he will be a witness at a drug lord's trial. Annamae ends up renting the cottage on Wynn's apple farm. Well, life gets really interesting for Wynn after Annamae's arrival. The authors incorporate a steamy and funny romance with other surprises into this quick read. Will Wynn and Annamae take a chance on love or will all the obstacles in their life keep them from finding love? FYI, includes mature content.

Annamae Jessup's family had a reality television series where the cameras followed them everywhere. Annamae was engaged to a well known baseball player and she accidentally broke-up with him on a radio talk show. She immediately took off to a small town to meet her grandmother and to find out who she really was. That would be the mother of her father who she had never met - neither her father or grandmother. While looking for a place to live she met Wynn, an apple farmer. Wynn is in witness protection and keeping a low profile so when Annamae showed up he didn't want her there. The last thing he wanted was the attention that a reality TV star would bring. After all he's in witness protection for a reason, which is that he doesn't want the drug cartel he's going to be testifying against to find him before the trial. Wynn realizes it's saver to have Annamae stay with him than to send her away so that his enemies can't find or harm her. The more time they spend together the more they are attracted to each other. I loved this book and didn't want to stop reading. The writing was excellent making the story easy to follow. The sex scenes were so well written that I actually squirmed during them. I loved the characters. Both Annamae and Wynn had difficulties in their lives but were strong enough to overcome them. Being together was dangerous for them but they were better together.

A book that I can walk away from without hurrying to get back can only get a three rating... This book was short and I would normally consume it in one sitting... But it was too predictable and so unrealistic in many ways that I have to call it just OK... Did not interest me enough to follow this series... Thought the writing was only so so and that the character development was just alright... I read several books each week and this one didn't do it for me... Sorry...

Finding her place... Annamae Jessup's family is the subject of an Atlanta reality tv show. When she accidentally publicly breaks up with her baseball player fiance on the eve of their wedding, she decides it's past time to figure out who she is and who she wants to be, out of the public eye and out from under her mother and stepfather's influence. Heading for Alabama to explore her roots, she finds her grandmother and unwittingly ends up on Wynn's doorstep. Wynn is an undercover police officer in hiding until he can return home, he is trying to make it as an apple farmer. The last thing he needs is a reality star drawing unwanted attention to the small town he is hiding in. He also doesn't want the instant attraction he feels. When Annamae feels the sizzle of attraction with Wynn, she realizes quickly she made the right decision to end her engagement, because while she liked her fiance, there was no real chemistry. Fast-paced, this is a quick read with enjoyable characters, both main and secondary. Annamae was always in the background with her family, so it was fun to watch her come into her own and figure out what she needed to be happy in her life. I received a copy of this via NetGalley for an honest review.

**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review Anna Mae Jessup had snagged Atlanta's golden boy, the 3rd baseman for the Atlanta Stars. Her family had become Atlanta's small time cable's answer to the Kardashians. The show was called Acting Up. Five years of Anna Mae's life had been documented. Her role was as the good girl in the middle of drama. All she wanted was a peaceful life and to finish her degree in Hospitality and Tourism. The pressure of being followed night and day finally exploded. Her world narrowed down to one thing, escape and regroup. Wynn Rafferty was better known as Heath Lambert. He was in the Witness Protection Program. He had a trial to attend about a Miami drug lord. He was an undercover cop. Wynn's only companions were a bunch of cats. Anna Mae ran away from her life and accidentally broke up with her fiance. She ended up in Beulah, Alabama. Anna was looking for real life. I found her to be brave and loyal. She was also inquisitive. She grew a lot in this book and it was enjoyable to watch. Heath/Wynn was a strong and loyal man. He was caring even when he tried to come across grumpy. He had to find his way as he waited for the trial. He had to make peace with a teen's death. He had been a good cop but he needed something new. I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it.

Annamae Jessup broke up with her fiancée just days before her wedding. Now she's on the run from the paparazzi and her pushy family. She's going to Beulah, Alabama to see her grandmother. Why did her mother kept her existence a secret? . Meanwhile Heath Lambert (aka Wynn Rafferty) is hiding out on an apple farm in this small Alabama town. He's an undercover officer. The mob wants him dead. Just his luck that Annamae wants to stay in his carriage house. She's a reality star who just dumped her baseball star groom. What a way to keep a low profile! This story brought a smile to my face. I enjoyed Annamae and her apple farmer. Their attraction was amazing. The setting and the dialogue ramped up the sexual tension. The story was filled with interesting secondary characters who added to the drama. Bagel, the dog that Annamae adopted and the stray cats cared for by Heath were a nice addition. The Wedding Audition was pure romance. I'm enjoying the Runaway Brides series. I can't wait for the next release.

**I received an ARC in exchange for my opinion** Annamae's family is the South's favorite reality TV family. Though usually the quiet one, she's just accidentally dumped her fiance` in a most-public way. Escaping life, she runs to a small town in Alabama seeking the one truth about her family kept secret her entire life. Trying to stay incognito isn't easy, but fortunately for her, she's able to rent a carriage house from Wynn/Heath--undercover cop in hiding before a trial and disguised as a farmer.  Trying to keep both out of the public eye leads to a lot of alone time for Wynn/Heath and Annamae. They discover other paths for the future as they fall in love and try to keep her family under control and Wynn/Heath safe from a crime family.  This is a fun read with a great plot and HEA!

It was a cute and simple read. Short and to the point. Not a lot of substance
