Meet the Author

Robert Jordan was born in 1948 in Charleston, South Carolina. He taught himself to read when he was four with the incidental aid of a twelve-years-older brother, and was tackling Mark Twain and Jules Verne by five. He is a graduate of The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, with a degree in physics. He served two tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Army; among his decorations are the Distinguished Flying Cross with bronze oak leaf cluster, the Bronze Star with "V" and bronze oak leaf cluster, and two Vietnamese Gallantry Crosses with palm. A history buff, he has also written dance and theater criticism and enjoyed the outdoor sports of hunting, fishing, and sailing, and the indoor sports of poker, chess, pool, and pipe collecting.
Robert Jordan began writing in 1977 and went on to write The Wheel of Time®, one of the most important and best selling series in the history of fantasy publishing with over 14 million copies sold in North America, and countless more sold abroad.
Robert Jordan died on September 16, 2007, after a courageous battle with the rare blood disease amyloidosis.

I started reading this series when I was locked up in Prison after I got out I continued, if I remember correctly I got to Book 11 Knife of Dreams after this book I was waiting for the next one this is when I found out that Mr. Jordan had Passed away and I was very devastated to hear this as I was so into the storyline and thought that I would never get to find out the ending of this story. I ended up selling off all 11 of my books thinking that I would never get to finish it. Then one day at a Truck Stop I seen a fellow Driver holding a book that caught my eye and when I looked at it my eyes litterly teared up as I was going to actually find out the ending. I am so glad that someone else picked up where he left off I have since started to reread from the begining as it has been awhile since I read it I just hope its as good as Mr. Jordan would have written it himself. R.I.P. Mr. Jordan You will be greatly missed in the world of Science Fiction
