It's a 35 page "prequel" masquerading as a complete book. Way down at the bottom of the cover picture, it does SAY so, but I'll be darned if I could read that until I downloaded it. Another tease for the ereader ... If you're going to offer a snippet to try to get us to buy the whole book, at least be up-front about it, please.

My husband is enjoying his nook. However, when reading the advertisements and specials that FREE eBooks are advertised it bothers me that they are not complete books. You state that on the cover of the FREE Book that they are snippets or sequels but I would prefer they not be advertised as a free book. It means a separate download and if I plan on reading a book, I have no problem buying it up front. Maybe reword how you advertise the eBook. Instead of FREE Ebook, say "FREE sequel or FREE review" for whatever book you are advertising. I know this is a marketing ploy or come on but it is annoying.

I agree with another reader! Why say this is a book, when it is only a ssample?

Don't forget you are dealing with devoted readers. Claiming you are giving us a "free book" doesn't mean you are giving us promotions for books, but actual books. Continuing to do this may mean we will shop less. Devout Reader

The total book was 38 pages long. It was a short story. I may have enjoyed it had it actually had more to go on. It was just too short and a waste of time. It had potential but left me thankful it was free.

I loved it. I had never read Anne's books b/4... got the freebie from B&N for the Nook. Just thought I'd check it out on my Lunch hour.....didn't want to stop! I will definitely pick up some more of her Books... Fun to find a new author. Thanks B&N :)

I liked this story a lot. I could see how it could be developed further and into a full length book instead of just a short story prequel. I was a little bummed when the story ended as it did. It did, however, do it's job. I'm interested in reading the rest of the series to find out what happens next. I'm a little frustrated that the new one is out only in paperback format. I will wait for the nook version. So not bad for being free. Would have been nice if the author had taken a little bit more time for it.

I do agree that it is a short story that should have been labeled as one. I thought it was a good story and it definitely made me want to read the next book. I am anxious to see how it ties in with the book coming out in August since the teaser didn't really name any characters that I recognized from the short story. Also for those complaining, I understand how you would want the wording changed from book to short story, but all that aside, it was free so it's not like you paid for a book and got a story instead. Be thankful you got something for free.

A teaser to a Harlequin romance of the desolate female being swept off her feet and being saved by a so called prince. The story leaves you hanging on the escape to read the book that it is an exerpt to. Saddened that it was not the complete book.

The Wicked House of Rohan was an interesting change from what I am used to reading...but it didn't lack any of the heat I will tell you that! This book is exciting because the characters are doing things they aren't supposed to. Everyone likes alittle antisocial behavior whether they admit it or not. Anne Stuart is a marvel at capturing intimate moments in the bedroom! A must read for those looking for alittle romance. I would have prefered it to be a tad bit longer so ther character development could have been deeper, but then again I am more of a novel reader instead of short story. Either way I feel that this is enjoyable for all of us.

There is probably nothing wrong with this "book" but B&N needs to let you know that on Free ebook Fridays they are only providing you with a portion of the story! The discription did not say this was the prologe, at least not until you took the time to download and then open the file. I deleted it from my library as soon as I realized what it was. It's a shame for the author who ends up getting a bad rap.

It's not that this is badly written, but the whole premise revolves around a starving, penniless woman willing to prostitute herself. That's not erotic, that's sad. WORSE, she puts herself in a really dangerous situation - no one knows where she's at, but she goes into a secluded place with people who definitely intend no good and may possibly intend her physical harm, then she gets drunk on top of it. That's a recipe for winding up dead at the bottom of a Venetian canal. And then the heroine MARRIES one of the guys? Because they don't know what these feelings are, so it "must be love"??? If you read this and get either hot n bothered or fluttery romantic feelings SEEK THERAPY and GO TO SELF DEFENSE CLASSES. NAOW.

This isn't bad for a sneak peak. I just don't think it's long enough to qualify as a short story.

It was free. That's the only positive thing I could say about this "book". Read it only if you have absolutely NOTHING else to read and need to kill some time.

Although it was short and is a prelude to a series of books yet to be released, I was certainly intrigued by the title as I've never read anything from the author beforehand. I have to say ... I'm earger now for the rest of the series to come out and have put them all on my wishlist! Fanastic read, definitely an escape to read especially on rainy days.

This was the shortest book I have read. I prefer books with more substance. I should have passed on this one.

Really an enjoyable read.

I know it was supposed to just be a short story but it ended to abruptly I kindof wished it was a longer novel!

2.5* This story had potential, but it needed at least 25 more pages and it is not worth paying $2.99 to read it. Save your money. It's not necessary if you're reading the Wicked House of Rohan series and should be free.
