THE WICKED ONE
A Beginner’s Guide to Rakes Prequel
A young, penniless widow. An inveterate rogue with a gambler’s charm. A chance meeting that leaves them both breathless with desire …
Widowed after only two years of marriage, Diane Benchley, Countess of Cameron, is left alone in a foreign place with nothing but the clothes on her back and a mountain of her late husband’s gambling debts. Before the young raven-haired beauty can give in to despair, she meets Oliver Warren, the rebellious and disinherited heir to the Marquis of Haybury. Wickedly flirtatious and powerfully handsome, Oliver is everything Diane’s husband was not, and she longs to taste true passion just once. Their clandestine affair is a deliciously sensual education—but will it also be a lesson in love?
Don’t miss Suzanne Enoch’s breathtaking romances—where passion is always more tempting than propriety…

It does state that this prequel is only 32 pages long. Although it was very short, it was interesting to see the details of what we got snippets of in A Beginner's Guide to Rakes. The characterization was consistent, in my opinion, it was very steamy (but not obnoxious), and just a pleasant reading experience. I would recommend to people who have already read the book it precedes, but what would be more interesting, would be for those who haven't done so to read this prequel directly before. I think it would into it well.

When I read A Beginner's Guide to Rakes, I rather felt like I came into the middle of the story, so I was interested in Diane and Oliver's previous meeting. On the other hand, as I would define the words, this is a prologue, not a prequel. It does not stand alone as a separate story and really should have been part of the original book. DO NOT READ if you haven't and don't want to read the book. As one who has read the book and the others in the series, being charged an extra dollar for the details of Diane and Oliver's previous meeting felt tacky. I have enjoyed all of Suzanne Enoch's books, but this stretched my loyalty to the limit. She should issue an apology to her fans.

It was a real page turner for me. I am adding Suzanne Enoch to my list of favorite writers.
