Booknews
Burroughs' coolly brilliant, futuristic tale of global warfare, in which a guerrilla gang of boys dedicated to freedom battles the organized armies of repressive police states, was first published in 1971. Every college and university library must have all of Burroughs. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
Saturday Review
"Burroughs has never written better of the flying psyche, never more vividly of the loathsome circumstances it flees. Wild Boys is brutal hagiography, a book of demons saints purged of hope or desire. They are one collective hero, the culmination of Burroughs's passion for the detached and abstract. Through them he captures the vibrations of total blankness, the sensation of freedom in a psychic nowhere."
Los Angeles Times
"The Wild Boys is certainly Burroughs's most accessible book since Naked Lunch! It's also his boldest experiment and, perhaps, finest achievement, the work of a brilliant mind that has mellowed but remained very much in tune with the crackle of the universe."
Rolling Stone
"An ethereally beautiful book"

Don't listen to the other reviewers on this site. To quote Rolling Stone, "An ethereally beautiful book".

It is rare for me to quit a book, but this one is so bad, I didn't even make it past the 20th page. My first and last Burroughs book.

This book was one of the most disturbing and incoherent pieces of literary garbage that I have ever read. It was a pornographic display of fourteen year old boys containing obscene homosexual descriptions that I did not need to read in my life time. The only reason why I finished reading this book was because I was desperately trying to figure out what it was about. At the conclusion, I still had no idea. Maybe this was a bad Burroughs book to start with, but I guarantee that I won't be reading any more.
