In 1897, a horse-loving orphan named George McDill is banished from his first foster home in New York and sent by train to a small mining town west of Denver. The assigned family fails to meet him, so the town drunk takes him home. Nicknamed Mac on the train, his adventures include a strange woman hiding a mysterious box in his bag, a train robber who follows him to Colorado, a gold mining excursion where he is confronted by a mountain lion and a court proceeding that will secure his future. About the Author

Sharon Miner graduated from the Institute of Children's Literature, West Redding, CT in 1991. Her first book, a young adult adventure story, The Delmarva Conspiracy, was published by Greene Bark Press, Bridgeport, CT in 1993.

Miner worked as a field correspondent for local newspapers in northeast Pennsylvania from 1997 - 2000. Since 1997, she has been a freelance writer for equine publications and online sites.

Currently, Sharon and her husband live in Tampa, Florida and travel throughout the United States with their terrier cross, Scout, while marketing her children's books. She is also a professional pet groomer and speaks at events about caring for pets.
