    decent short story

2.5 - 3 stars, this was a cute little story, although I'm not totally on board with the whole 'spirit animal' thing, at least it was original. My main issue with short stories (including this one) is they go along fine until about halfway through when the main character does a 180. For example, when Elysia finally shows Darien what's in her backpack, we were reading from his perspective at the time and therefor had no idea why all of a sudden she showed him when up until that point she was steadfast against it. Anyway this was only about 60 pages (and free on my Nook) so it was a nice light read before bed when I had some extra time to kill.

This short story is a prequel to “Eyes of Crow” and is set after the modern world collapse. The story, characters, and action are interesting, and the ending was satisfying. I liked it and I think it makes a great free opening to a series.

    Needed development

The story needed to be developed much more to be good. Often I think that an author gets rushed, even by themselves, and doesn't develop their story enough for a reader.

Great story about a post-apocalyptic world. It's a bit of a teaser, I can't wait to read more.

A very nice short story. I was a little disappointed that it was a short story and not a full length novel.

    Enjoyable

Good short story. A little more explanation on some things would have been nice, but overall quite enjoyable.

    Expected more

This seems more like a teaser than a short story. Due to that I came away disappointed.

A good twist on shape shifters & the supernatural

Has just about everything from danger to mystery to romance and even betrayal. It's a very good read indeed. I cannot say more without giving away the book itself. Would have rated it 5 stars but it did not go into the depth in areas I think it could have, and the ending was quite abrupt leaving you with some unanswered questions, however I am very picky. Plus I will still keep it in my library as it is a good read as I said.

    Interesting

    About 57 story pages...free e-book (short story)
Somewhat interesting plot. Some sort of calamity happens to the world and some of the survivors are chosen by 'spirit animals'. These people are brought together by their 'spirit animals' to rebuild society. Reminds me of C.L. Bevill's "Sea of Dreams".

    good

    Aubu1964
Darien and Elysia were on his big boat and they got hit by a yacht and the couple were died. Darien wants to get together with Elysia's for life. But she doesn't because of something in her backpack that Darien wants to know what it was in it. It was a weird ending all about animals. But they were going to be married at the end of this novel. I enjoyed this novel. ShelleyMA
