This pirate adventure/love story was full of amazing detail. It was a long story, and there are so many colorful characters and plots that I was never quite sure who were the heroes and villains in it. The love, nor violence were particularly gratuitous, but still painted a clear enough picture that you felt it's impact to the story. Courtney was a fantastic heroine and Adrian was a strong and worthy hero. Definitely worth the read!!!

If you are reading just for sexy romance, this is not it. This is a swash bulking pirate romance. Adventure all the way. Starts out slow but then you can't put it down. Not the typical romance novel.

Great book! Full of drama and intrigue. Just when you think you have something figured out, Bam! Another surprise. Never got boring. Exceptionally written! Loved it and hated for it to be over....

It's a great story, and it's like reading 4 books at once' because it's very long, yet you don't want it to end.....

I have always loved a pirate story! This was an exceptional book. Got more than my monies worth. The heroine in this book is of course the daughter of a notorious pirate. She strove to have her father's favor. Of course there are plenty of evil people who give this story twist and turns. But when the heroine and the British solder keep fighting each other it gives this story soooo much character. Please enjoy I have purchased the second novel by Marsha Canham (haven't read yet) am on another book now. But can't wait to read - Ms. Canham's writing is truly a enjoyable ride in romance and history. Have fun and enjoy!

Let me start by saying that this is the first time i have enjoyed reading about history. I read a book about the main charected posing as a boy before, but this book was actually what i was craving to read.
Once you start reading it, you can't put it down. Courtney is a strong independen, loving woman, the kind that u wish would be your friend. Adrian is the kind of man that is on everywomans best dreams, he's strong, smart, what a body !!!.
The book was well thought out, the detail of the writing makes you feel like you are part of the story. The best part is that the story is not focus just on the two main charecters, the background charecters are not just washed out in the back as an after thought, they are very much part of the story and keep you wondering what's going to happen next.
LOVED IT !!!

Overview
Nineteen-year-old Courtney Farrow, daughter of Duncan Farrow, the most feared pirate on North Africa's Barbary Coast, was raised to fight, swear and think as well as if not better than most men. But the time is 1804 and the U.S. Navy is attacking and destroying pirate strongholds. In battle, Courtney, disguised as a boy, is captured and forced to become cabin boy to Lt. Adrian Ballantine, proud, handsome, and the only man who can tame her spirit. He has other things on his mind, however, namely discovering who is selling secrets to the pirates. At the same time, Courtney is trying to discover the traitor in the pirate camp who betrayed her father.
