The Wiz original cast recording is a joyous, vibrant celebration of life, couched in the fantastic terms of a modernized retelling of The Wizard of Oz, with an entirely black cast. And it is fantastic in both senses -- both fantasy-based, like the children's story by L. Frank Baum that it is born from, and also superbly performed. This version far outshines the movie soundtrack (despite the movie having such big-name draws as Diana Ross and Michael Jackson). Listeners will feel uplifted. Very highly recommended, both for children and adults.

    Nothing beats Broadway

I had the pleasure of seeing this musical 3x on Broadway and no one (not even Miss Ross in the movie version) holds a candle to Stephanie Mills in this role. She always brought the house down with her finale of Home. If you liked the movie, come back to the source and hear how incredible these performances truly were.

    A magical Wiz

Comparing all 'the Wiz' recordings there are, this recording is the best, for sure. Pure and excellent performance and recording.
