Overview

Its elusive combination of beauty and ferocity makes the wolf one of nature’s most fascinating creatures. In fables and folklore wolves are unpredictable and

menacing characters, yet in reality they are faithful pack animals who operate according to precise social hierarchy and consistent codes of behavior. Their descendants walk among us – having earned the name of man’s best friend as a result of their loyalty, companionship, courage and devotion, and sharing many of these qualities with their ancestors. Today, the famous hunters known for the haunting sound of their howl have been hunted themselves to the point of endangerment in some areas. With 140 spectacular color photographs, this book presents a vivid and truthful portrait of the wolf, with the aim of contributing to its protection.

I purchased this book for my husband, who absolutely loves wolves. He really enjoyed it. Great pictures and full page photos as well as very informative. Interesting, without being boring.

I am an artist that does wildlife paintings and drawings. I bought the book mainly for reference concerning wolves. I use my own ideas as to subject and composition, so I will not be infringing on any copyright issues, but the photos in this book are so sharp and clear that I can use them for coloration and details of the wolf. I have not checked into this as yet but if Francesco Cesoni, and Giovanni Fasoli have made other compilations of photographs concerning different forms of wildlife, I will buy those as well.

This books is excellent. It covers the past that has haunted the Wolves. It talks about their ways of life, such as their pups, pack structure, their methods of communication. It discusses human cultures that are inspired by them. It also has great photographs as well. I highly recommend this book for those who already love and fight for Wolves, and those who are curious about learning about them.
