Overview

Most people typically regard Helen Reddy's "I Am Woman" as the quintessential anthem for the women's liberation movement in America during the '70s. But sadly for mainstream audiences, Reddy is a '70s one-hit wonder; nothing could be further from the truth. This 22-track session, Woman I Am: Definitive Collection, serves to set the record straight with a comprehensive overview of her adult contemporary chart hits from her tenure at Capitol Records during the '70s. All of her most well-known hits are here including (of course) "I Am Woman," "I Don't Know How to Love Him," "Angie Baby," and "Delta Dawn," all of which cracked the Billboard Top Ten singles chart, but there are also minor hits and fan favorites which complement the collection of hits quite well. Complete with liner notes from Reddy herself, this is quite possibly the most comprehensive collection of her material that a casual fan could possibly ever need, and something which die-hard fans will enjoy having around, if only to have all of her most important works together in one volume.

I purchased this CD for a dear friend and fell in love with it. I then bought a copy for my very own and ordered more to give as presents. The album is packed with favorites. You will be certain to sing along. Her songs are timeless. The tunes are catchy. Some are fun, while others are beautifully meaningful. A unique fun-loving collection that I will never tire listening to. I saw Helen Reddy in concert many times and met her back-stage. We still keep in communication to this day. What a very lovely person on top of being such a remarkable talent. Keep on singing, Ms. Reddy!

This CD is an excellent collection of Helen Reddy's greatest hits. Anyone who grew up in the 70's will love this album. It's too bad that you don't hear her songs very often on the radio today. Perhaps with the resurgence of the 70's music, maybe Helen Reddy's music will finally be given credit again!

I saw Helen perform in the Philippines in the mid-70's. She moved me then and she still does today! She has given such inspiration, strength and determination to women all over the world through her songs. She's a marvelous woman and singer. Her music is timeless and will remain favorites with women for years to come. I can't wait to read her book and learn more about her both personally and professionally. Thank you for the new recording and the book. Thank you, Helen, for the strong woman you are and gifting us with YOU and your beautiful and strong voice!
