ebook sample crashed my nook 4 times

I downloaded the sample ebook, but the first time I tried to view it, it crashed my nook. I had to completely power off and reboot. I tried again... and again... and again. On the 4th try, I was able to view the sample - briefly. Trying to do anything simple (jump to a different point, change the font) caused it to become unresponsive and eventually the reader application had to be forced closed. This has never happened with any of my other ebooks (including others that I have that were published through PubIt). I have now deleted the sample from my library. Btw, I saw enough to learn that there are no jump links between the different books included (so no easy way to navigate the ebook).

    Don't buy Halcyon Press Books!

I found three books from this publisher that I really would like to have read. Unfortunately none of them will open. I had thought it might be due to the size of the files, but other books I have downloaded that are equally large are fine. All three of these hang up my Nook, and the only way I can get out of it is to turn the device off. I tried going through the techs with the first one, but nothing worked. I went to check a review of one of the books, only to discover that everyone who downloaded the book had that problem. One reader was told the problem's on the publisher's end and once it gets solved, the books will open. So now I have three books that look great and enticing, but can't get open. I'm only giving this one star, but I'm sure I'd rate it higher if I could read it.

unable to open ebook- too big???

Beware, if you buy this ebook you might bot be able to open it. After trying several times (the screen justs sits on the "Opening your book" message until you get tired of seeing it and stop the process), I will be asking for my money back.

    download issues

This ebook would not open on my nook --- just hung on the "opening your book" screen. After archiving and re-downloading, it still didn't work. So I archived and deleted, then re-purchased. Now it works. Stupid workaround, but at only 1.99 for 1,400 pages I was wiling to give it a try.

Can't open this ebook on my Nook!

I purchased this ebook the evening of Oct. 6, 2010. When I tried to open it, the Nook would sit there with the message "Opening your book", and nothing would happen. I tried all the suggestions one could find on the web: do a complete power shutdown; archive and then unarchive; etc. After working on the problem for 2 days, I visited my local Barnes and Noble. They were very helpful, and spent 45 minutes repeating everything I had done. Then they tried to open the book on one of their Nooks, and found it wouldn't open either. They believe there is a problem at the publisher's end, which they believe will be resolved soon.

This looks like a very good book. I gave it one star merely because I have yet been unable to open it.

    Highly recommended

It was great to have the ability to re-read some on the books I first read in the 60's...and a few I had never seen before.

Enjoyed greatly forgotten books read years ago, fantastic read.

I remember reading these story's years ago, it is almost impossible to find the books or they are expensive. I like the twist and turns of Andre's story lines. Hoping that more of the out of date books will become available for reading. Both for the older generation to remember and the new generation to enjoy.

    A Blast from the Past!

Andre Norton wrote great space opera which I avidly read years ago. This compilation of many of her novels is an excellent reminder of how much fun stories can be, no matter how naive the many of the assumptions seem now. For example, computers as we know them do not exist and the good guy and bad guys are easy to identify. Kind of like a classic western except the hero's ride rockets or travel in time. Bottom line, if you enjoy a feel-good adventure and are able to accept her version of the future these stories are FUN!
