One in the "Worst-Case Scenario" series, the premise of this one is that you are one of six crew members between the ages of fifteen and sixteen, chosen to sail around the world. If, and only if, all six survive the journey within 285 days, they will divvy up the one million dollar prize money. The crew is instructed to read the last few pages first to study sailing terminology and such survival tips as how to handle shark attacks ("Fight! Giving up will not change the shark's mind about eating you.") and which fish is deadly to ingest. Once the story begins, the first critical choice is on page twenty-five. If the wrong call is made, one of the crew already dies and it is game over. While the premise is intriguing, the book quickly becomes incredibly difficult to follow as each choice leads to different pages—in no particular order. Depending on which choice is made, one or another crew member is injured or killed...including you (who knew reading could be so life-threatening?). The story becomes all but impossible to follow, as choices come more frequently, and lead the frustrated reader all over the place, constantly interrupting the narrative flow. On top of that, there are numerous cases where whichever choice is made, the ending is undesirable: a character either dies, or—best case scenario—the journey ends unsuccessfully. Alexander Lurie is a pseudonym for two book-publishing professionals who live in New York and New Jersey.

Mike Perham started sailing at six years old. At fourteen, he became the youngest person to sail solo across the Atlantic, a record that remains to this day. He lives in England.

Yancey Labat has illustrated many books for children. He lives in Ithaca, New York.

    Amazing!

    Its great and is fun because its cool to find an ending...any ending! Evan bad endings to! I highly recomend this book!
