I don't even know what to say... but ... whoa... !!!! this story "blew me away" . from the very beginning tragedy struck and the tears started flowing and about 10 chapters later.... yup... i was still crying ! now I'm not sure if it was "just on of those days" but I just couldn't control it. This story grabbed me from the core ! and what a ride !!! Carly and Brian .. high school sweet hearts... witness a traumatic event, a horrible car crash... It left Carly broken and incapable to speak, with friends lost including Brian's younger brother. Everything's' changed. Brian and Carly's plans of marriage and living regular lives have changed.. with no choice Brian leaves Carly. 15 years later. tragedy strikes Rhode Island again... and new clues are rising with connection of the accident all those years ago. Thus bringing Brian back home... for the first time.. and faces his past and Carly... a love that he's never gotten over ! and with such a crazy plot.. the best parts where the " oh. my. " and "whhhhaaattttt" moments... and there were a few !!! By far one of my favorite books!!!!

I'm a big fan of Marie Force, but this is far below her usual standard. The heroine is dull and pathetic. The suspense element is diluted by sex scenes occurring too often and at inappropriate times. Perpetrator is obvious to the reader, but not the police chief! Too many emotional, soapy plot twists for one novel. Read all her other books first.

I really liked this story. I don't know why people were saying it was a short read. It was 717 pages on my Nook. I recommend it if you like a love story with a little suspense thrown in.

Really enjoyed this free short romance (210 pages). The ending was too abrupt for me tho, that is the reason for only 3 stars. GJRA

Another great book from Marie Force. Very emotional and deep story. 700 pages definitely worth it

Started so good, but I really started to hate it in the middle. I started to hate the characters and the decisions they made were stupid and unbelievable.

Read this book in less then 2 days! Loved this book! The love story that continues throughout this book between Carly & Brian is very engaging. But what this couple endures through 15 years of their lives, will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride. What is learned in the end is that love will always conquer.

The book is not for a seasoned reader. Probably more appealing to pre-teen/teen.

I'm a little torn on my rating. While I couldn't put this book down, maybe that has to do with Marie's writing, there were parts of the story and characters that I just didn't like. Mainly Carly. Brian deserved better and as it was pointed out many times throughout, he lost far more than she did but still managed to move on with his life. There is trauma, grieving and loss but there has to be a point when you move on, 15yrs is too long. I won't give away any spoilers but certain things Carly did were just unforgivable. I didn't like how that one part of the story was just glossed over, like it wasn't a huge deal. The killer was revealed early on, at least it was obvious to me. I was just waiting the entire book for him to make his move. I didn't like the graphic explanations of the crime scenes. I could have done without. If I wanted to read a crime thriller, I would have. I enjoyed the book. I love a rekindled romance story. This one did not disappoint on that end, even though they moved at lighting speed after they reunite. If you have read other Marie Force books, this won't surprise you. I've learned to let go when romances move to fast. It's not real life.

Marie Force's "The Wreck" takes you on a journey with two people, Brian and Carly, as they are forced to grow up way too soon due to tragedy. The effects of that tragedy are far reaching for Brian, Carly, and their extended families. The Wreck takes us through their lives before and after "the wreck" to their ultimate reunion due to further tragic events. The Wreck is an emotional read. I was struck early on at Brian's emotional maturity dealing with the tragedy in his life. His ultimatum may have appeared unfeeling and immature towards Carly, but I actually believed it was a mature reaction - understanding that he needed to do what was necessary to move on with his life. Carly's reaction to "the wreck" was severe. Little did we know the full impact of the repercussions of the wreck until later in the book. Carly shows an enormous strength, despite her loss of the ability to speak. While it took her longer to begin to move on with her life, she might have demonstrated more strength than Brian. Brian may have moved on with his life, but his life was shallow and empty. He didn't form relationships - he was just going through the motions of life. Until he came home. A subsequent tragedy was a turning point for Carly, and ultimately for Brian. Their reunion when Brian came home was really and truly the point at which they both began to heal. Marie Force's writing made it easy for me to connect with the characters at an emotional level and feel the love and fear and anxiety that they were feeling. It flowed very well and it made it easy for me to turn the pages as quickly as I needed to because I REALLY wanted to know how it ended. I'm always happy when I read one of Marie's book, and this one is no different.  It is a stand-alone novel, and one of her first, I believe.

Ms. Force has outdone herself. I've had this book in my library for a very long time but kept bypassing it even though I love her Fatal Series. I don't understand the negative reviews. And, yes, things like this can & do happen in small-town USA. Eighteen year-olds oftentimes do not make sensible choices. This book is full of emotions; ups, downs, regrets, and love. I totally enjoyed it.

Smooth read with minimal hitches. Good story plot and character build. Being a guy I skimmed thru the mushy bits but i know a lot of readers like that. Otherwise a fun well written detective story.

EXCELLENT!!! I seldom read a book more than once.  I read this over a year ago and re-read it just now.  Good story, if predictable in some cases.  I love Force's books.  Try the Fatal Series and the Gansett Island Series.  They are GREAT!!!
