    Great for Teachers and Writers

    I'm an English teacher and a part-time, professional non-fiction writer. I walked past 'The Writer's Toolbox' in a bookstore this past weekend, sniffed at the creative packaging, and muttered, 'All fluff, but no substance, I'll bet!' And yet, I found myself going back to it. Finally, I bought the damned thing, hoping to scratch the itch. At home, I opened it, expecting buyer's remorse. No way!!! This kit is amazing. I plan to use it in the classroom next year, both during school hours with my writing students and after hours with my Writers Guild. I especially like the sample story -- in the directions -- that is essentially the result of the toolbox games. My favorite device? The non sequitur sticks. I plan on using them to help keep some of my non-fiction writing dynamic. Of course, I'll have to modify the items to my own research and reality, but that strikes me as half the fun. A very clever little box full of games, ideas, and methods for creative writing. Thanks! Scott Snair

    This toolbox gives inspiration and great ideas

    I bought this toolbox for me to use in cases where I get stuck in my writing. I am writing my first book and it has been helpful getting the ideas flowing. It has many tools and is just a great thing for writers to have around. And of course, you don't have to use their exact idea words - you can twist them to fit your story.

    Wonderful and Dynamic

    Jamie was once my fiction teacher and we used most of these activities in class. The best and most dynamic writing I ever produced came out of that class. 6 years later, I still look back on those writings and those exercises to spark new ideas.

    Fun With Students, Fun With Friends and Family

    I love the ¿Writer¿s Toolbox,¿ a very cool way to develop creativity and writing skills in a game with almost endless variations. I¿ve used many of the prompts with other writers ¿ and non-writers - and we¿ve had a blast using it. My favorite: everyone in the room takes the same prompts and, in about twenty minutes, writes their own story to it. It¿s hilarious to see how family and friends come up with such different stories, such different twists, each story unique. In the accompanying little book in the Toolbox, Jamie Cat Callan finds a way to give us the gems of creative writing succinctly, colorfully, and humorously. As a Clinical/School Psychologist in a middle school, I plan to use the ¿Toolbox¿ in an after-school club this year. I can¿t wait.
