"The writing in The Wrong Girl was beautiful. There were so many quotes that I wanted to write down, and keep... The world building, and the plot drew me in from the get go, and didn’t falter until the last sentence." ~ Books For A Delicate Eternity

"This was one fantastic read! A really fascinating story which I couldn't put down, so this is easily a 5 stars." ~ Tea Party Princess

DESCRIPTION:
It's customary for Gothic romance novels to include a mysterious girl locked in the attic. Hannah Smith just wishes she wasn't that girl. As a narcoleptic and the companion to an earl's daughter with a strange affliction of her own, Hannah knows she's lucky to have a roof over her head and food in her belly when so many orphans starve on the streets. Yet freedom is something Hannah longs for. She did not, however, want her freedom to arrive in the form of kidnapping.

Taken by handsome Jack Langley to a place known as Freak House, she finds herself under the same roof as a mad scientist, his niece, a mute servant and Jack, a fire starter with a mysterious past. They assure Hannah she is not a prisoner and that they want to help her. The problem is, they think she's the earl's daughter. What will they do when they discover they took the wrong girl?

A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

When I set out to write the Freak House series, I wanted to put my own spin on the Gothic novels of the Victorian era. I've always loved their creepiness, the secrets, and the romance too, but I wanted to see the story from the perspective of the character that is often present but never the heroine - the girl kept in the attic.

I hope you'll enjoy this trilogy as much as I enjoyed writing it.

This story is written so the reader will buy the next two in the series. Each section only asks more questions, and with everyone being lied to by everyone else, the truth is often not found at all. The book ends abruptly with more questions. I'm deleting it from my library. The only good thing is it was free.

Not a great read but not a bad read eitherf BUT the story does not wrap up at the end, you must buy the second and possibly third book to finish, I wouldnt want to pay for nor read that much from this series.

4.5 Stars I really enjoyed how this book was setup and I loved the plot of this book. The author did a wonderful job making this book unique and interesting. Everything about this book screamed adventure and mystery and I loved every second of it. I do wish that some parts were a little more drawn out but overall this book was a success. Hannah was such a unique character because of her illness. I loved how the author was able to make this illness into a mystery and really bring it to life. I loved her perspective and her character in general. She interacted with other characters in this unique way that I quickly grew to like about her. I loved many of the characteristics about her that were expressed throughout the book. She was a character that many readers will end up rooting for and wishing well. Jack was an mysterious character with a hidden past. He repeatedly told lies and doesn’t tell the whole truth to the very end. I loved how he interacted with other characters, he had a certain way about him that made me want to like him. Yet Jack wasn’t the only character not being totally honest and I loved how each character’s secrets were slowly revealed. Overall this book was a really good read and I will be reading some of this author’s other books.  **** I received this eARC from NetGalley.****

Who doesn't love a book that involves a girl trapped in an attic, a kidnapping, a hot kidnapper, and fire? A fun paranormal novel that takes place in gothic London, I found this to be an enjoyable introduction to a new series. The pacing of the story was good, keeping me from sleeping in my desire to finish the book. I do agree with several of the reviews that talk about the amount of questions left unanswered at the end of the book, but what can you expect when a series number is included on the cover? I enjoyed Hannah's spunk and the lack of insta-love. Jack was appropriately mysterious and heroic with a tragic and rough history, a fitting love interest for a girl lying about her identity. While all the action in the book was quickly resolved, I did think that this was a fun gothic beach read and a promising beginning to the Freak House series. It should be interesting to see where the series goes from here.  My Recommendation This YA paranormal romance is safe for all ages and would make a fun teen summer read. I give it 4/5 - I really liked it.

A very complicated and confusing book that doesn't answer the questions that are raised. Just gets more and more into confusion.

loved it! I couldn't stop reading ... the book is part of a trilogy and is based on a girl with supernatural powers who was living with a rich family as a companion until she's abducted and taken to live with another family with similar abilities. Drama and adventure happens trying to find who She really is, why are others like her and why she was kept in the attic with other girl as a companion. This book takes you back in time when romance, castles, carriages, and corsets were important.
