The Year The Horses Cameby Mary Mackey
Volume One of The Earthsong Trilogy evokes the moment in pre-history when marauding nomads brought horses, male gods, and war to a goddess-worshipping Europe that had known peace for thousands of years. Against this perilous backdrop, a passionate, dangerous love develops between Marrah, a gifted priestess, and Stavan, one of the invading warriors.

No where near Auel or Harrison quality. Flowers, etc., had today's names - really?
I had read this book years ago in hard back and loved it! When I saw this triology (there are two more to the series) for $2.99 per book, I had to buy them in digital form to read again! The Year the Horses Came is just as wonderful now as it was when I read it before. Once this is completed, I will be reading the other two (The Horses at the Gate and The Fires of Spring).
wonderful book couldn't put it down... love and war in prehistoric times. non stop action. I loved it!
I hadnb't even known the name of htis author when I first found the book in a store, but the story sounded appealing... After having read this story, I have to say that Mary Mackey is one of the best authors I have ever found!
I discovered this book on a Godwill Store's dollar table. I had just finished reading The Chalice and the Blade (a book describing the Old European Society and the patriarchal nomads from the Russian steppes that destroyed it). Mackey's trilogy gives life to this struggle as well as demonstrating a better way to live. I highly recomend it!
