Good Charlotte's The Young and the Hopeless is punk-pop déjà vu. Rehashing worn clichés aplenty on each track, cuts such as "The Anthem" emerge exactly as the title overtly implies: a high-velocity, guitar-driven reason to lash out against the usual growing pains inflicted by parental authority and high-school drama. Grafting the widely recognizable drum motif from Iggy Pop's infamous "Lust for Life," "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous" is downright predictable, while offerings including "Boys and Girls," "Day That I Die," and "Moving On" are strictly paint-by-numbers rockers sans personality. However, "Emotionless," a shoegazing ballad with a clever orchestral backdrop, ...

An album title that clearly reflects the content; stick with bands such as Green Day if radio-ready punk-pop is your preference.

One of the best albums in recent years

This by far is GC's best album and is one of the best I've ever heard. It rocks. It is a little poppy but it still whips you into a frenzy. Saying GC isn't punk is true to a point, but saying they aren't talented is a lie and this is the proof.

    hey "punks"!

how dare you call yourselves punk, when you listen to good charlotte, bowling for soup, and hilary duff! good charlotte is a poser pop-punk boy band that worships mtv. if you are an mtv worshipper yourself, you will probably love this cd, but if you have any grain of sense, you will check out REAL punk.

    these guys are so amazing

Honestly, GC are most possibly the most talented guys... ever. They are my favorite band of all time, hands down. I can't even put into words how much they rock. Well, I could, but if I tried, I'd be writing a novel (actually I have written 2 songs about them, but...). Their lyrics are SO good- honest, catchy, everything. I love every single song on all of their albums!!

Good if your not an experienced punk rocker

i personally liked the cd. i do not believe good charlotte has a lot of talent and if you ask many people they will say its sorta like punk for little kids. but frankly, i think the cd was pretty darn good. the lyrics were awesomely catchy! the meaning was all there and the questions that were asked really got you thinking.

    not disappointing

when i first listened to gc (their third cd) i figured they were selling because people pitied them, but this cd was actually not what i expected. the songs were alot better and more relatable to life. this album is entertaining and it has a good pace.

    hahahahahahahaha

Lauren, a singer and songwriter,1/15/2004, 5 out of 5 stars No words can describe this band! I can only say one thing: Good Charlotte, I am your number one fan, and I spport you all the way! Their lyrics are so moving, okay, I admit, I cried when I heard "Movin' On". I sound like a pathetic loser, but that song just sounded so real and so ... so... I told you, no words describe this band. And to all you people who think Benji, Joel, Billy and Paul are "poseurs", you are wrong. They have the punk look, but that's not the point. The have the punk attitude, and they have the punk life. So all you people who think GC is a fake punk band, you are so totally wrong. To sum it all up, GC has powerful lyrics awesome band members, plus great bass lines! ^^^^^^you need to be kicked in the face.

THE BEST CD IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is my ABSOLUTE favorite CD! I listen to it every day! I wish I could have given it 100 stars. I really like The Anthem and Boys and Girls. Hold On is such a sad song. I almost cried the first time I heard it. The music video for it is even sadder. And an added bonus, GC is from my area!

    Inspiring Cd

I wish I could give this cd more then 5 stars because words cannot describe how much I love this cd.Good Charlotte has helped me so much. When ever I feel down or depressed I listen to this cd.Hold On would have to be my favorite song. When I saw the video for it, it made me cry.Because a few months ago my uncle tried to end his own life.Thank God he didn't succeed in doing so.I can almost relate to the pain those poeple in the video had gone through back then.So I would just have to say, thank you Good Carlotte, you have helped me so much.
