Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Phyllis Kennemer
The Scream Team is back and the monster misfits are competing in the Junior Monster Guild's Track and Field meet. Patsy the zombie, the two-headed Conundrum brothers and Karl the werewolf are determined to win the Deadcathlon. Their chances do not look good. Not only do they have to conquer the Conundrum Curse, but Patsy keeps (literally) falling apart and the Conundrum brothers won't stop fighting with each other long enough to compete. And what is going on with the mysterious hooded spinners? The plot is action-packed and the characters are likeable. The black and white illustrations add to the humor. Reluctant readers will enjoy some of the disgustingly delicious descriptions like snot snakes, shot-put slime, pus-bag trees, and snacks of road-kill. This is the fourth book in the "Scream Team" series. Apparently in an attempt to attract boys defined as reluctant readers, the story is filled with gross and disgusting details—such as Part of the "Scream Team" series. Reviewer: Phyllis Kennemer, Ph.D.
