This is a cliffhanger, not a complete novel. Overview is misleading.

What could possibly have happened that Alexandra left her boyfriend, left her job and left her life in New York and pick up and secretly move to Atlanta, moving in with her aunt? Something happened to Alexandra in New York and she could not let herself tell anyone.  Luckily she had her aunt in Atlanta, and the timing was perfect as her aunt had hurt her back and could not take care of the cotton fields. Hiding her life from everyone, including her aunt, Alexandra returns to school, takes a part time job in a hospital and learns how to take care of cotton fields.  In addition, she also makes some good friends, especially one hunky friend of the family, Blaise.  But Blaise seems to have a secret of his own.  It seems that no matter how they tried to fight it, they ended up giving in to their desires.  Eventually Alexandra slowly opens up to Blaise and lets go of her past, thinking Blaise was someone she could trust to open up to. But you need to read it yourself to see what happens when things come out in the open.  But plan on being surprised at the ending.  You’ll want to read the next in the series to see what happens next.

Why would a Southern girl who has been to the Big Apple, earned her nursing degree, gotten a rewarding job and lived with the man she loved hightail it out of there for a cotton farm in a small town back in the south? Deceit, pain, infidelity and the disillusionment of the reality of medicine could do it. Alexandra needs a fresh start or to run away and lick her wounds and her aunt’s cotton farm seems to be the perfect place to re-invent herself and gain some focus until Blaise saunters into her life. Tall, handsome and seemingly an honorable man, Alex finds her hope for love rekindled. Although she holds her secrets close, she dares to trust again and tells all to this amazing man. Blaise has secrets, too, a really big secret that the entire town knows about, or they think they do. Out of a misguided sense of protectiveness and honor, Blaise is involved with another woman who just happens to live with him, although he has “tried” to get her to leave. There is no romantic involvement. So why not be honest with Alexandra? Thanks to a “friend” who claims he cares about Alex, she discovers Blaise’s secret and once again, she has been deceived by a man she trusted and cared for. A tormented Blaise would do anything to win her back, anything but tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth. But does he have competition for Alex’s heart? The old clashes with the new, as three men vie for Alex’s attentions. Are any of them trustworthy or do they all have secrets they withhold? Then Came Alexandra by E. L. Todd adds a new level of drama and tension to romance with just enough tweeking of a popular genre that there are some fresh elements to enjoy. She writes with a passion for her story, while not succumbing to page after page of explicit sexual tension and detail. Her characters are damaged, have been hurt and fail to communicate with candor. Alex often seemed so wrapped up in hiding her past that she was missing out on a future and a truly fresh start. Blaise runs the gamut from attentive lover and over-protective knuckle-dragging male to doormat to his live in ex-lover. For a wealthy and successful business man and farmer, he has a huge collection of problems that do not seem to be addressed appropriately, and yes, he has been less than honest. Is it their ages, early twenties, that make everything such a hurdle? Is E. L. Todd telling us how, no matter what, the webs we weave will trip us up, especially without years of life experience? With a wonderful hook to the next book in this series, this tale and these characters leave such a beehive of buzzing questions that I need to know how Alex will handle all of this male attention, as well as “the ex,” both hers and Blaise’s.

Alexandra is trapped in her own guilt which is forcing her to give up her passion of nursing. Through this she has pushed her boyfriend, Paul, away from her by keeping her secret so she breaks up with him and runs away. She goes to Savannah, GA to be with her Aunt and to return to school to find a new career. What she doesn't expect is to find Blaise a successful cotton grower trapped in his own hell. Both Alexandra and Blaise have a deep rooted connection in their desire to help people which is what draws them together. Blaise tries to keep his distance since he has Danielle living at his house in his attempt to help her and now can't seem to get away from her. (I have to admit that I have a huge dislike for Danielle since I feel she is totally playing on Blaise's sympathy knowing he has such a big heart.) I love the chemistry and slow burn between Alexandra and Blaise, this is a beautiful romance between two very independent and selfless people that deserve happiness. The connection was immediate but I loved how E.L. Todd allowed this to develop slowly as they found common ground and trust. Of course, as with all secrets that you don't own up to yourself, someone else will make the reveal for you and cause all kinds of problems. We are left hanging at the end as Paul appears in Savannah just as Blaise and Alexandra hit a rough patch. Come on part 2!

Than Came Alexandra by E.L. Todd Is the first in what promises to be an amazing Southern Love Series.  I really enjoyed the characters and the big city/small town differences.  The story line seemed a bit redundant at the beginning, but the curve balls just kept coming.  And the cliffhanger?  Oh, the cliffhanger.  I am excited to keep reading.

I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review, so here it is. Alexandra has had enough. Something terrible has happened at work, her boyfriend Paul has cheated on her and she has had enough. So she leaves New York without telling anyone where she is going. She ends up in Savannah, Georgia with her Aunt martha, who owns a farm growing cotton. Alex enrolls in college and puts an application in at the local hospital for a tech position. She meets a few friends that her aunt knows and they are very friendly towards her. She meets Gabe in one of her classes and he ask her out and she tells him she is not dating anyone at the moment. He says they can be just friends. When her aunt hurts her back, a family friend shows up to help. She sees Blaise and the sparks fly. How can she have these feelings for someone so soon after breaking up with Paul? Blaise seems to be having the same feelings. But Blaise has problems of his own. I don't like that he doesn't tell Alex the truth when she told him about her past. It makes the lie even worse when she finds out. Even a lie by omission is still a lie and someone will get hurt. Can Blaise make her see the truth? Will Alex give him another chance? And what will happen if Paul shows up? Will she ever get her heart put back together? This is a second story for me by E.L. Todd and I loved it, can't wait for more. I need to know what happens with Alex, Blaise and Paul. And Aunt Martha too.

I was given an ARC copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. Then Came Alexandra is book one in E.L. Todd's new adult romance series titled Southern Love. I fell hard for this sweet romance set in Georgia and can't wait to read more. Summary: Alexandra Wade's heart is broken. She's turned her back on her nursing career and found out her boyfriend of two years has betrayed her with someone else. Her only thought is to escape, and that's exactly what she does. She runs home to Georgia and the aunt who has always been there. Of course, moving states doesn't keep her demons at bay, but she's determined to move on with her life and past her heartbreak. Finding a job, enrolling in school, and not being a burden to her aunt is high on her list. Despite her degree in nursing, Alex isn't ready to continue with her career in healthcare. Not after what happened before, and definitely not with the guilt swarming inside. Making new friends is hard, but luckily her aunt paves the way, and Alex starts to feel like she fits. Moving on romantically seems impossible, though, until Blaise walks into her life. Blaise has a responsibility he never really wanted, but he can't let down his deceased parents. Growing cotton and running the family business was entrusted to him by his father, so he's determined to make him proud. Besides, his biggest problem in life isn't the family business when compared to the drama brought on him by his ex, Danielle. When he meets Alexandra, he wants nothing more than to claim her for his own, but with the life-altering secret he's holding, he can't risk getting involved then losing her. But the explosive chemistry between them is too strong to deny, and their relationship progresses faster than either thought possible. With a love stronger than either Blaise or Alex though possible blooming, happiness seems to be their permanent future. That is, until it all comes crashing down. When Alex finds out about Danielle and her supposed role in Blaise's life, she's shattered. She can't comprehend that she could have chosen wrong all over again. Blaise is in a panic at losing the woman that makes up his world, but he still has a secret to hold or he risks putting Danielle's life in danger. Will faith and the love that grew between them be strong enough to keep them together or will exes, insecurities, and responsibilities get in the way? For the most part, I liked Alex. She was sweet, not vain, compassionate, and hard-working. I admired her patience and loyalty to the nursing profession, as I am a nurse as well. The only time she started to grate on my nerves is when she turned away from problems without a backwards glance. I felt she should have listened a bit more, even if she didn't accept what happened. Blaise was amazing. What a guy! I loved his alpha personality and his determination to keep everyone safe, even if it was screwing with his head. I was cheering him on throughout and still am, although I hope he gets shot of Danielle, immediately. I liked Lana and Hannah and would love to read books about them. Paul was ok, but I don't feel the intense connection between him and Alex like with Blaise. I would still like to read his story. E.L. has really got a gem in this book, despite the semi-cliffhanger (it ends, but with unresolved relationships and decisions, and I'm not a huge fan but since it's not sudden I'll deal with it). Lol. I can't wait to read the HEA, and hear about some of the other characters in Savannah, Georgia. <3

***I was given an ARC for an honest review*** 3 1/2 STARS!!! Alexander leaves NY to stay with her aunt in Savannah for a few reasons. First is to hide from her cheating boyfriend Paul and two to start over. A mistake was made by her that convinces her to abandon her nursing career. So she goes back to collage in order to pursue a degree in English. All is going well. She even makes some new friends. But things heat up when her aunt Martha needs help with her farm.  Alexandra watched his every move, more interested in his physique than what he was doing with it. Through his shirt, she could see the outline of muscles in his shoulders. Everything was prominent and defined. Even though he was working his body, he seemed calm and relaxed, like their activities weren’t exhausting. When Blaise and Alexandra meet the chemistry and attraction is immediate. The only problem is Alexandra isn't the only person keeping a secret.  I enjoyed the book except for the secret Blaise insisted on keeping. That by all means frustrated me. I'm looking forward to seeing what decision Alexandra makes in the next book and for more of sexy Blaise!

Alexandra moves to Savannah Georgia to get away from something she is not willing to talk about or even think about. What it does do is make her think about all the things she is not happy about in her life. Even having a degree in nursing she wants to make a change and goes back to school to do something about it and cuts ties with everyone she comes to know in New York. Blaise inherited the largest and most lucrative cotton field in the south. While he is grateful for what it has given him in his life he wants more and is going to school to get it. Blaise is the hot and sexy man who connects to Alexandra. Blaise is also living with his ex-girlfriend who holds him emotionally hostage. The chemistry between Blaise and Alexandra is scorching. I loved that they did not jump into bed together right away. Blaise is a smart but also stupid man who is not honest with Alexandra right from the start. The biggest problem they both have is they are not honest with each other right up front. The sex scenes were hot and spicy. Then Came Alexandra is the first book in the Southern Love series by E. L. Todd. I was surprised how much I liked this book. I normally don’t like books that have cliff hanger endings but this was done is a way where I was not to upset by it. I found this book well written with interesting and engaging characters. Ms. Todd’s writing this book just comes alive. Overall, this was a great book and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. **I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review
