I like two things about this book. The first is that it is very thorough and complete. Exercises, both stretching and strengthening, are included for basically every major muscle group or extremity motion. Furthermore, the book is divided up well enough that you can find what you're looking for fast.
Secondly, I like the fact that this book is evidence-based, meaning that it backs up what it suggests with references from the scientific literature. In fact, it's so good that it can be a great place to start a literature search from.
Know too that this book is mainly written for people who have some medical background of sorts, so if you're just an average reader looking for some workout exercises, this probably isn't your book. Rather, I feel like the book is better suited for athletic trainers, personal trainiers, occupational therapists, chiropractors, physical therapists, exercise physiologists, massage therapists, and so on. Practitioners looking for more info on the shoulder might also want to check out Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff -for more detailed ex's on rotator cuff tear prevention and rehabilitation.
Very practical and easy to read. Thoroughly referenced to support the modalities described. I've already committed highlighting and tabs to it.
This is an amazing book! Buy it, don't rent! But most importantly, DO NOT get it from B&N. Get it somewhere else. I went through a lot of trouble trying to get this book from B&N. I tried to rent it from them and it "got lot in transit". I called them when several times and was given the same answer, to wait. Ten days after not receiving the book, they told me the tracking number showed the book never arrived at its destination. I asked them to refund my money. The book finally arrived two days later after they told me it had been lost and after I had already purchased it again elsewhere. I called them and they told me to send it back and my money would be refunded. I NEVER received a confirmation email about the status/cancelled order of my returned book and I still HAVE NOT received the FULL amount I paid for the book. It's been about a month since this happened and my bank statement shows that I have not received the full price I paid. This book is exactly what you need if you're going into Physical Therapy. Exercises are detailed and explained precisely with pictures. The content is well explained and has helped me understand the concepts better. A concise version of this book would Fundamentals of Orthopedic Management, but I prefer this book because everything is explained in such detailed. The information is really organized as well. Last words, customer service is pretty ignorant and I'll never get a book online from B&N. It was a wasted effort, wasted TIME, and I lost money.
The fifth and sixth edition have both the same errors on the lumbar plexus lateral cutaneous nerve and femoral nerve. Both nerves should be on the POSTERIOR DIVISIONS group., NOT ANTERIOR DIVISIONS. Kisner and Colby kindly check it out on page 359 in 5th edition. the same error in the 6th edition!

Well, its mainly written for people who have some medical background so if you're just an average reader looking for some workout exercises, this isn't your book. A good book is written on poor quality paper and is connected together with poor material(spiral bound).
Books like these will never go out of style. I have an earlier edition of it and after practicing for 12 years as a physical therapist, I STILL use the darn thing. I have seen the new edition and it is very good. Well referenced and a good place to start for literature reviews on selected topics. The authors have certainly done their homework.
Don't miss this book. I had the earlier edition but this is a lot better with more information added into it.
