I have given this book to 4 cancer surviors, they in turn have passed it on to other cancer victims. They have said it was a great book to read during their treatments.

This book was given to me a few months after I'd had half of my left lung amputated for cancer and I was still having a hard time dealing with everything. When I opened this book and started reading, I "knew" it had been written by someone who had read my mind and knew how I was feeling. Since then, I have given this book to every person that I know who is diagnosed with any sort of cancer. I always like to have a spare book or two on hand. I have given my own book away numerous times because it is the only one I have left at the time. Just like the title says 'There is no Place like Hope," this book is filled with hope. You can pick it up and read it at any point and it is almost always relavent. I just know that everybody tells me how much it is appreciated.

This book is not only excellent for people with cancer, but also their families and loved ones. Vickie tells it like it is-- from the shock of discovering you have cancer, fighting for your life and then fighting the insurance companies. Vickie shares it all--with laughter and tears. You will be glad you read this one!

First of all, as a cancer patient of ten years myself I kind of hate cancer books....I received this one as a gift though and read the entire thing. I think Vicki Gerard speaks to the real issues & experiences here with a rare voice of authenticity. She somehow manages to capture the essence, minus any preachiness, of the cancer patients experience. Its my favorite book on the subject so far.

I can't even put into words what a beautiful book this is for ANYONE dealing with or who has ever dealt with the monster called 'Cancer'. Vickie's experience and realistic views help us realize that rather than hiding we can face any of our challenges. When we think we have nowhere to turn we can turn towards HOPE. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I have definitely bought this book for all my relatives and friends dealing with cancer. Thank you, Vickie for sharing your life and courageous words with us.

I gave away my first copy to someone who needed even more than I did and am now ordering another copy for someone else. Inspirational.

My husband was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer May 2003, we NEVER lost HOPE, one chemo treatment at a time. This wonderful book brought even more hope to our lives because I could open it up to any given page and read just a small passage 'I say passage because it felt like reading the bible' and that was just enough for Tom to hear and think about. Advanced cancer patients have a very hard time concentrating for a very long time, so because every page of this book is filled with HOPE it made for easy reading. The fact that the author also faced cancer, we knew she understood the journey we were on. I recommend it to everyone, because every page shines through with HOPE...and don't we all need hope in our daily lives? Tom went to heaven On October 21, 2003. I miss him with every breath I take. Thank you.

As someone who has had cancer, read every book available it seemed, and came out on the other side a better person, I can say that this is the ONE book that anyone facing cancer must have in his or her personal library. It is, by far, the best of all of the books I read during my ordeal with cancer -- and I read A LOT!

A truly inspiring book. Vickie has taken her own personal experiences, trials, setbacks and vitories and combined them into a truly hope filled message. If the word Cancer scares you like most everyone else, you need to have this book, arm yourself with hope to fight back and win!
