THERE'S ONLY BEEN YOU - (Jamison Series, Book 1)

Lies destroyed their past--will the truth end their chance at a future?

Sara Jamison has no clue where Mike Andrews' been all these years, but she knows where she's been--busy raising their son. Two weeks after he accused her of cheating and disappeared from her life, Sara discovered she was something she never expected to be--an unwed pregnant teenager.

But with the love and support of her annoyingly alpha-male family, she's managed to make a good life for herself and her young son. She even owns her own business, Sara's Bakery, which she's built into a thriving success. Sure, she works too hard and her social life is nonexistent, but for the most part, she's content.

Until the day Detective Mike Andrews walks into her bakery and back into her life...

Of all the bakeries in town...

Sara blew out a frustrated breath as she faced the troublesome machine. "Couldn't have waited 'til Monday, could you? Rotten appliance."

Ten minutes later, she smiled with triumphant satisfaction as the sweet aroma of vanilla coffee filled the bakery. First thing Monday morning, she'd call the dealer and ask when they could deliver a new machine.

The bell above the door chimed. "See, Amanda. You just have to show this devil who's bos..." The words died on her lips.

Legs braced apart, a disdainful scowl curling his lip, Mike stood just inside the door. Her heart lurched and her breath caught.

This isn't happening, this isn't happening, this isn't happening--

"You sound just like that arrogant brother of yours."

Deep breath, compose yourself. "I'll take that as a compliment." She narrowed her eyes. "Now get the hell out."

"You need to work on your people skills, lady." He strode forward and stopped in front of the display case, looking around in obvious astonishment. "Well, I'll be dipped. When I saw the Sara's Bakery sign, I said to myself, no friggin' way. But morbid curiosity got the better of me. So a bakery, huh? Not much of a surprise, really--"

"What do you want, Mike?"

He turned toward her and she finally got a good look at the side of his face. My God, had Garrett done that? She couldn't help feeling a measure of satisfaction. Oh, who was she kidding? She hoped it hurt like hell.

He must have realized where her gaze rested because he reached up and fingered his jaw. "Don't get too excited, he sucker-punched me." He leaned over and tapped the glass above her jumbo chocolate muffins. "I'll take one of those and a large coffee. Regular, not that flavored crap."

With an angry huff, she stalked over to pour him a cup. Why did he have to look so damn good? Was it too much to ask for a receding hairline and a donut around the middle?

He wore his thick, blue-black hair shorter than he used to, which only made the resemblance between him and Ethan more pronounced. He'd put on a good twenty-five to thirty pounds of solid muscle as the black T-shirt stretched tautly over his chest could attest to. And those eyes--cobalt and incredible--had continued to haunt her over the years.

Ethan's were the exact same color.

Sara glanced over her shoulder when the screen door opened. Mike. The pan she'd been drying fell from her hands and clattered to the floor.

"We need to talk."

"Where's Garrett?" she asked, attempting to peer around his broad shoulders. She tried not to make eye contact with him. As long as she didn't look him directly in the eye, she'd be able to maintain her composure.

"You've always put him on a goddamn pedestal."

She bent over to pick up the pan. "Don't you dare say anything unkind about him."

"He's a pain in the ass."

Sara shot him a look. "He's not the only one."

A slow smile curved his lips. "Now there's the Sara I know and love."

"Don't you dare throw that word around. If you loved me we wouldn't be in this situation." A surge of emotion tightened her chest and she silently cursed herself for letting him get to her.

Hands on his hips, Mike sighed. "Look, I know you have every reason to believe that, but it's just not true. I've loved you since the first moment I laid eyes on you."

She paused. God, how she wanted to believe him. But if he'd truly loved her as he claimed, he'd never have been able to stay away for so long. She swallowed past the lump in her throat and reached into the drainer for something else to dry.

"All right, I'm done playing. Come on, we're going for a ride." Mike reached out and grasped her elbow.

"I'm not going anywhere with you," she said, yanking her arm free. "If you want to talk, we'll talk, but we're doing it right here." She tossed the dishtowel on the counter and crossed her arms over her chest.

"You either follow me to my truck or I'll throw you over my shoulder and carry youthere. But one way or another, we're taking a ride."

She gasped. "If you touch me I'll scream bloody murder."

"Then I guess I'll have to gag you as well."

I wasn't sure about this book, but as they say...Don't judge a book by it's cover.....and I am glad I didn't. I really liked this book. Mike and Sara were high school sweethearts. A plot between two people to break them up succeeded and Mike left town. Two weeks after he left, Sara found out she was pregnant. She has 3 over barring brothers who have helped her raise Ethan for the last 7 years. Mike comes back to town when his dad passes away and while driving through town see's Sara's Bakery. Curiosity gets the best of him and he walks in...and the spark is still there. They are both bitter against each other (thinking each of them cheated on each other) and Mike has no clue about Ethan. Sara's brothers talk her into telling Mike the truth about Ethan just as Mike learns about the plot that was hatched to break them up years ago. They have a reunion and the "air" is clear. Just as they think they can start something, someone who wants to once again destroy them enters the picture. Sara and Mike have to fight for their future and the future of their son. The story is touching, heartwarming, the sex is hot! And just an all around make you feel good book!

Nice combination of heartwarming romance in a small town setting, plus fairly steamy scenes. Sara and Mike are believable characters.

I loved Mike and Sara's story, the passion, the pain, and the want for more pull you in to this wonderful story of second chances and redemption. I could not put it down. The Jamisons are an amazing family and with love you can accomplish anything. Great book.

## Excellent read! Loved the jamison family. I don't normally read 'second chance' stories because there is so much bitterness throughout the book, but i read a review that explained that the betrayal was actually not a betrayal and that the situation was cleared up somewhat quickly. I'm so glad i tried it. This book was awesome. The family dynamic was superb and Mike was hot. I hope that nicky, danny and garrett will have stories as well!

I was only going to give this book 4 stars because I did not care for the two long sex scenes, which I skipped, and little things like how many times Mike called Sara sweetheart. Then this evening I found myself with 8 chapters left, fighting to keep my eyes open, and not getting up from my seat until I finished this book. Will read more of the series and more by this author for sure.

nice book, good plot although I found it hard to believe Mike would stay gone for 8 years.  I also thought it was ironic that Sara was worried about Mike's temper when her adored brother Garrett was referred to frequently as a hot head who needed anger management classes!
