    Amaranth's story

Frodo woke up to bright sunlight. He was in the bow of the ship between clean sheats. He opened his eyes reluctantly and slid out of bed. He stumbled across the room to the wash bin and looked in the mirror. His pale face looked back at him. The ring had ruined his body and he would never be the strong hobbit he had once been. His belt had been pulled titer many times throughout this last, unending journey. They had been traveling for over a year now, never quite getting there but always knowing it was ahead. Now Frodo wondered if he ever wanted to get there. What was at his journeys end? He knew nothing about it. How could he be sure it wasnt just as depressing as this ship? And then the thought came back to his mind 'someone was missing.' Joy would not return to him until he found... her. He had no heart to see anyone today, or to go up into the beautiful light that flooded his room. Frodo curled up in a corner. He felt as though if he kept very quiet she might visite him again but she did not come. His dry eyes stared into nothing.
