The way Salli Swindell remembers it, the inspiration came unbidden while and her brother Nate were chatting aimlessly in a kitchen: "Quite typically, I was at the counter chattering away while doodling the crate of fresh figs he had bought. It was a big 'AHA' moment. Figs are so lyrical and sexy to draw. I became mesmerized and thought 'why have I not been illustrating food all this time?' This eventually led us to gathering some talent artist friends to illustrate a recipe of their choosing." From the thousand plus submissions, Nate and Salli has selected 107 of these illustration and recipe matches that demonstrate that food and art are almost equally various. A cookbook with a difference.
