Overview

My love was thick.

Her faith was thin.

Somewhere in the middle is where life found us.

I claimed her when I was a boy.

I held her until I was a man.

She was my first thought every morning, my last smile at night, and a million memories in between.

Then one night, with her warmth still lingering on the sheets, Aly King walked away from me, from us, from our life.

They say time heals all wounds, but not for me.

Not when my heart is empty.

Not when there is nothing but a sea of meaningless faces wherever I go.

It always comes back to her.

Aly needs reminding of how drunk our love made us, before she forgets completely.

Before we lose our chance.

Before we are irrevocably broken.

Aly and Ransom and Ethan. Keira and Kona and Cass. What a tangled web we weave when what we truly want is not in our grasp. Book 3 is a final installment of the Thin Love series. And I committed the cardinal sin of readership when I agreed to read their story. I had not read the other two books. Yep, I did the thing that I hate when other reviewers do when they decided to land in the middle or end of the story. However, the book was gifted to me for an honest review whereas the author stated it could standalone. And she is right. Although the start of the book, I will admit being a little lost. At 35%, the author does provide an clear and meaningful flashback that gets the reader caught up in the angst of the story. If I look at the story from a standalone viewpoint, there was a character that I felt was 'smarmy'. I couldn't put my finger on it even at the end because I felt like the character involvement fell off the radar. 3.5 stars out of 5. So now I'm at a loss. The writing and editing were good. The storyline and interaction of the primary characters carried the story. Why 3.5 stars? I don't want to get into the details because *spoiler*. Possibly I would feel differently if I had invested in the characters from books 1 & 2. But the storyline fell off at 70% for me. If you loved books 1 & 2, I believe you will enjoy the closure this installment brings. However, personal recommendation would be not to read book 3 without doing so.

Thick & Thin is the third book in the Thin Love series. It can in theory be read as a stand alone book, however, I wouldn't recommend this and at a bare minimum I would recommend reading at least the second book, Thick Love, which is the start of Ransom & Ali's story. I have very much been looking forward to this book since the epilogue of Thick Love and I wasn't disappointed at all. As I've come to expect from the previous books in this series, Thick & Thin was angst ridden from start to finish and while I didn't doubt the ending would be the one I hoped for, I read this book with a churning in my stomach. Ransom & Ali's journey was fraught in heartbreak and a lack of communication but there was never a time their love was not undeniable and their chemistry seeped from the pages. I for one enjoyed this book and have loved this series - a definite recommendation from me. I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
