Editorial Reviews

Charles Reasoner
"Fantastic --- the book is absolutely beyond belief. I give it a 9.5 out of 10, and I'm a tough sell.

I had initially thought this book, Thieves, would be another expose' on the dirty dealings of a TV pastor (in this case Mike Murdock), but was overwhelmed by the gripping nature of the entire story and all itscolorful details. As a side note: Hopefully this book (Thieves by Trey Smith) will put that very bad man (Mike Murdock) out of business."Denver Examiner
Bob Enyart
"A woman whose husband is part of our ministry asked him to read Thieves to her while she was in labor at a Denver hospital. As if that wasn't enough, after having the baby and in recovery, her husband continued to read Thieves to her aloud and those from ajoining medical rooms asked if they could sit in and listen. It is amazing the gripping effect that this book seems to have on readers -- Trey Smith's Thieves in a unique class of its own." Bob Enyart, Bob Enyart Live Radio Show in Denver, CO

Never in my life have I taken a full day to read a 300+ page book. But in the last 24hrs, there've been two "firsts" for me: (1) I read all 339 pages of Thieves; and (2) I loved it, every bit of it. It was excellent. Thieves is an emotionally erratic pendulum that swung me from calm to choas, clean to fiend, good to bad and back again. And it's packed with so much "grit" that it even made a scoundrel like me bite a fingernail (or ten).

Meet the Author

What is Thieves by Trey Smith -- Writing Thieves was one of the most emotional rollercoasters of anything I have jotted on paper. Directly following Thieves release, many people called it an expose' on corruption in Christian ministry. As a result, I immediately began taking in angry emails from those with something to lose in positions of financial power within Christianity, and conversly, very heartbreaking emails from common people who had a multitude of sad stories involving mainstream TV Pastors. Although these emails move me, Thieves was never intended as expose'. It is merely a true story --- a true crime story --- which covers the obsurd and unusual real events surrounding the safe robbery of the TV pastor Mike Murdock. The characters in the book are real people ... and many of their actions (as well as my own) are far from flattering.... and often highly illegal. I am a writer, these events happened ----- it is a story that absolutely had to be told.

Very interesting, if it were not so crazy my tendency would be unbelief that such a world exists, but such is our
state of existence. May I say, extremely enjoyed the clarity of thought and no holds bared on exposing not
only other people and their short comings but the author not trying to cover his own. Very good book would
recommend if  your looking for a flavor of a different sort. Looking forward to other books from this author.

Worst book I have ever read!

This book is so poorly written as to be distacting. The poor author should have spent more time paying attention in school and less time being a troublemaker. It does give great insight into the thought processes of a lowlife, though. I wouldn't encourage him by buying any of his books. His holier-than-thou attitude is disgusting.

    What a ride!

After watching Trey's YouTube videos I was compelled to read the story about how auch an intelligent and rational person could come to steal a safe from Mike Murdock. What I anticipated was a mostly boring rant on the evils of greedy T.V. evangelists. What I got was delightfully suprising. This was the most raw, genuine, honest, hilarious, insightful, and inspiring books I've ever read all wrapped into one.

I've read plenty of Christian books and this one was not only the most truly enjoyable, but probably the most relevant. Not just to me, but to those who need hope but can never seem to find it, and somehow doesn't act as a cure to insomnia at the same time. I've told several stories from this book that had whole rooms busting a gut (which is really saying something when my gift for botching stories usually out does a writers ability to tell them.

All-in-all this book is a favorite and I would shamelessly recommend it to anyone.

If you're by any chance reading this, Trey, thank you and God bless you!

    Insanely Fun

I couldn't put it down. I am not a reviewer so I don't know what to say here. I needed something like that. Something to just take me into the fast-paced world that doesn't let up until the last page.
