Overview

When second son Alexander Valentine loses his brother to an assassin’s arrow, he discovers that his family protects an ancient secret and reluctantly finds himself at the center of the final battle of a war that was supposed to have ended two thousand years ago.

Pursued by the dark minions of an ancient enemy, Alexander flees to the mountain city of Glen Morillian where he discovers that he is the heir to the throne of Ruatha, one of the Seven Isles, but before he can claim the throne he must recover the ancient Thinblade. Seven were forged by the first Sovereign of the Seven Isles and bound to the bloodline of each of the seven Island Kings in exchange for their loyalty to the Old Law. Each sword is as long as a man’s arm, as wide as a man’s thumb and so thin it can’t be seen when viewed from the edge. Thinblade is the story of Alexander’s quest to find the ancient sword, claim the throne of Ruatha and raise an army to stand against the enemy that has awoken to claim dominion over all of the Seven Isles.

Meet the Author

Since my childhood, I've been passionate about fantasy. After reading many stories of epic struggle set in worlds of magic, I've decided to create a world of my own. The Seven Isles is the result. Thinblade is the first book in the series with more on the way.

The writing quality gets better the further you read. Stick with it and you will end up having read an enjoyable fantasy novel about mages, reluctant future kings and magical swords

Very good story!  Sometimes seems a little preachy, like the hero is just a little too perfect and he or one of the other good guys always has the proper philosophy needed to keep going.  But other than an annoying line here and there, the story is very good...good enough that I keep coming back for more.  However you can only buy paperback versions of the rest of the series from another online store.

This book has everything going for it. Good heroes, good plot, good world, and most important of all good flow. The villians are somewhat one dimensional, but all around I am looking forward to the second book and all the others so far.

Good, not great. The characters are fairly likeable, though the author establishes a certain relationship way too quickly, which makes it feel cheap and lifeless throughout the rest of the series (I'm currently struggling through book five). If Mr. Wells had taken time to flesh out this relationship, it would've worked better. Overall, it's a good series, though a tad sterile and detached.

I am enjoying this read... Where is the next book?

A new world of magic begins. Where good fights evil across the casm of time and the power of the universe flows like a wave through the ocean. The story has just enough unanswered questions to keep you looking forward to the next book.

Wow I do not usually bother with a review...what is good to one is boring to another....that said I am eager to read the next if this author can keep this story going at this pace it will be a great read more than once....

I enjoyed getting to know the Seven Isles as much as the characters. I feel like I just got a taste and can't wait for more.

Good, solid book. It got a bit over descriptive at times, and I was able to skip several pages without losing track of the story. But very well written technical wise. Could have ised a bit more excitement or something different than the typical mages and warriors. But the bottom line is that ienjoyed it, what more could a reader want? DMB

Good characters, good story line. Read the 1st book now I need to read the 2nd in the series but I can't find in on my nook or in the Barnes and Nobel Nook website!? Come on Barnes and Nobel if you give a free book in a series to "bait" a reader then offer the series to purchase.  Great marketing ploy but FAILURE on the follow through.
