Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Nancy Garhan Attebury
Shiny race cars zip around corners of the track at speeds most kids will never know. But this book about “things that go” does not offer only a look at speeding race cars. It also has information about planes, trains, boats, bicycles, and more. Readers will discover how bicyclers can safely go as fast as fifty miles per hour and why drivers of the first cars wore goggles and gloves. Fantastic, colorful photos bring readers a close look at the action of moving modes of transportation and also allow readers to feel like they are part of the action. This is a level 1 reader from the “Discover More” series. As such, simple sentences created with 200-500 words meet the Common Core goal of showing the connection between two pieces of information in a text. A plus is that readers are allowed to download a free digital book containing fun activities. The book has great appeal for young readers wishing to learn more through exciting subjects. Reviewer: Nancy Garhan Attebury; Ages 5 to 7.
