Meet Justice, a half-black, half-Filipino goddess whose appetite for a quick dollar is insatiable. Having moved from Chi-town to Charlotte, North Carolina at an early age, Justice and her younger brother, Monk decide to take the streets of the Queen City by storm.

All is well, and their hustle is fruitful until Justice's ex-boyfriend, Carlos (a vicious drug dealer), is robbed and all fingers point toward Justice and Monk. Subsequently, a war ensues between Monk and Carlos' clique of dealers and killers. No one is exempt from the bloodbath!

Editorial Reviews

OOSA Online Book Club
This is a story of several people whose lives collide. Choices are made, some of which are terrible. Choices that will forever alter their lives.

Mike Sanders has brought freshness to an all too familiar premise. He has introduced a multi-faceted plot with many characters, and the story is told from four points of view - Justice, Monk, Sapphire and Carlos - in alternating chapters. Each chapter blends into the following effortlessly. I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. His descriptions are vivid and convincing.

In the end, "Thirsty" is a book that's hard to put away completely. Even long after it's finished, you may find its characters sneaking back into your head. Mike Sanders has spun a wicked tale that MUST be read by everyone. This is my first read by this author and it won't be my last. --Jermaine

Sample Chapter: PROLOGUE

JUSTICE

As I nervously climbed those winding stairs with my baby .380 clutched tightly in my sweaty palms, I could feel beads of sweat trickling down between my breasts. With each step I climbed, my heart beat like jungle drums and felt as if it would leap from my chest at any given moment. Regardless, I knew I had to still my nerves, but I also knew there was no turning back! I'd decided that today would be the day I'd make this nigga pay for all of the pain and anguish he'd put me through.

As I neared the door to his home office I could hear the familiar melodious sound of his money counting machine as it rhythmically spit out bill after bill. I was hoping that I'd rocked him to sleep during our time together so he'd be totally oblivious to what I was about to do. I was also hoping that he'd gotten so comfortable to have left the door unlocked. He knew I had never disturbed him while he was in this room handling his business because I knew a man needed his space from time to time. But today, his space was about to become mineas well.

When I was directly in front of the large, oak door I stood there and silently prayed my nerves would allow me to carry out my task. Hell, it's not every day a sistah's about to catch a damn body!

A million and one emotions began to well up in me all at once. So suddenly, that it felt as if they were colliding and toppling over one another. I tried with all the restraint I could muster up to hold back the tears, which were fighting to be released, but it was to no avail. My eyes lost the battle and the water sprang free. Mascara streaked down my chiseled cheekbones as the tears flowed freely.

Just the thought of how easily the man beyond this door had come into my life and turned it upside down, made me really grasp the concept of what could happen when a man catches you at a vulnerable stage. I witnessed firsthand how a woman's mind can really get twisted.

After taking a deep, nervous breath I reached for the cold knob and was surprised to find it unlocked. I paused for a moment to muster up the courage I needed. With a trembling hand, I twisted the brass knob and hurriedly pushed the heavy door open just in time to witness this nigga's eyes almost pop out of their sockets as he looked up from his desk where he sat.

"Justice," he called out my name while staring in astonishment as I stood there in his doorway brandishing a pistol, looking like a crazed woman.

Precious Bedell's review of Thirsty - by Wahida Clark

Extremely interesting plot and characters. In her usual style Wahida leaves you panting for more and writes so you have a personal relationship with the characters. She is a gifted writer that leaves you panting for more of her stories. Surely this is fiction but typical of life in most inner cities. Way to go, girl!!!!!!!!!!!! Wahida not only tells a story but engages her readers so that they feel in someway connected no matter what ethnic background one is from.

Thirsty For Some Action? Get Ready To Take A Drink!!

I bought this book on the strength of one of my favorite authors - Wahida Clark!! If she's backing Mike Sanders then I couldn't help but give "Thirsty" a shot. Well I'm glad I did because once I started reading I couldn't put it down.

Justice and her younger brother Monk moved from Chicago to North Carolina when they were young. Now they're older and getting their robbery hustle on. Justice sets up the vics and Monk goes in. Justice decides to let her best friend Sapphire in on the hustle and everything goes downhill from there.

There were a lot of twists and turns. This was a fast read and was set up well for a sequel. I can't wait to read Thirsty 2. Buy this book, it won't disappoint.

    This book was O-K

I read the book just a few days ago, and I think it was O-K. Nothing to write home about. At some points in the book, you knew what was going to happen, but coming from a chick that reads alot of books, this one could have been better in the form of the characters and plot. Also, it lost me in a few places. I had to go back and see what I thought I missed. The story didnt come together all that well. But again, it was O-K. The end was a trip.
