Overview

Irish folk heroes Finbar and Eddie Furey earned their fame in the U.K. and Europe during the 1960s and became quite popular with North American folk audiences during the '70s, often performing with their brothers George and Paul. The Fureys formed an artistic alliance with multi-instrumentalist Davey Arthur while assembled in Germany during the year 1978. The group underwent dramatic changes over the years, including master piper Finbar's pursuit of a solo career during the '90s, Davey's departure in 1998, and the unexpected death of Paul in June 2002. Their 30th anniversary as a unit (sans Finbar) was observed in 2008 by a reunion tour and the release of a CD/DVD recorded live at Vicar Street, a pub and performance space on Thomas St. in their home town of Dublin. Joined by Luke Crowley and Dominic Leech, the Fureys and Davey Arthur present a heartwarming blend of waltzes, airs, reels and a "Jig of Slurs" before an appreciative and very responsive audience.
