Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Ten-and-a-half-year-old Zack attends a séance with his father, a freelance writer. A spirit enters Zack's body and refuses to leave. Pretty strange, but then again it seems there are always strange and bizarre things happening to Zack. This particular spirit is Queen Victoria, an eighty-year-old woman from England. Now, Zack is learning to have tea and scones at noon and how to handle a very demanding and grouchy old woman. Why did Queen Victoria come back and what is making her so grouchy all the time? Only when Zack answers those questions can he rid himself of this spirit forever. This is one of a long list of Zack stories in "The Zack Files" series. These wacky, high-spirited books are highly recommended. 2000, Grosset and Dunlap, $3.99. Ages 6 to 8. Reviewer: Sharon Tolle
