Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
What are the characteristics of a duck? A shiny orange beak, fluffy wings, webbed feet, and soft yellow feathers? In addition to these parts, with the accompanying tactile reinforcement, each page has a die-cut hole that reveals a sound button. When it is pushed, you hear a quack; appropriately, the text of each page sums up by noting "and she saysQuack! Quack!" If this book doesn't drive you "quackers" before the battery dies, it should be fun for kids and parents, too! The illustrations are amusing—one of the really engaging spreads shows the duck and her soft yellow feathers, while smaller insets show how she fluffs them out, shakes them dry and keeps them clean. There is a lot of information to be gleaned from this board book. Part of the "Usborne Noisy Touchy-Feely" series that also includes This is My Puppy and This is My Kitten. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
