The Wonderful Voice of Sergio Franchi

Sergio has a simply wonderful voice. In the style of the great Mario Lanza, Sergio carries his way through a song with ease of a bird in flight. His vocal range is truly magnificent, clear on all notes and his diction that of a Shakespearen actor. His effort to charge the audience with the dramatic strengths in his voice will set you looking for more. Simply put, a rare talent.

    Superb Vocalization

I agree with all of the reviewers thus far, but want to point out that this is a compilation , and the cover was lifted from Sergio's "The Songs of Richard Rodgers" album. My only two complaints are the questionable sound on a few of the tracks, and the unforgiveable ommission of "Someone Like You" that Sergio introduced in the Broadway musical "Do I Hear A Waltz". My only guess on the latter point is that RCA didn't want to pay Columbia for the use of the song. It's a great taster CD of a great man and singer.

IMO, the King of Male Pop Stars

The great Sergio Franchi had one of the six most beautiful tenor voices that ever lived (including, IMO, Caruso, Bjoerling, Corelli, Schmidt, and Peerce, -- all opera stars, as was Franchi originally). Any song Sergio touched, he made unforgettably his own. This compilation and the others so far available on CDs are treasures for every nanosecond of listening. Hopefully, the reissuing process will continue, so that his glorious voice, spirit, and inimitable style will be known and thrilled to by yet-unborn fans of great singing as applied to "light" romantic songs. "5" Stars is the maximum rating here, but these albums surely deserve higher. Enjoy!

the best Italian Tenor that ever lived

Ahhhh....life was all too short for this romantic Italian crooner....what a blessing it is that we DO still have his recordings. I agree, that this CD is all too short; it was made however, before CD's were born and thus contains only the songs on the original album. Sergio's rich voice and passion for romance lives on -- and this CD is a good sampling of his work. (however, for the real fan, come to Stonington, Connecticut every summer to his estate, to hear young tenors and sopranos in a concert given by his widow, Eva. There, you can also tour his home, his vintage cars, and sample wine and more music that Sergio loved so well. There is a website for his foundation). This CD will warm you up for more of Sergio Franchi....Ciao, bella!
