    Don't buy this

Let's start with the whole book is only 89 pages long and sells for $9.95. Ms Hall is an African American and I decided to go ahead and read it as a different perspective of lesbianism. I know from sponsoring the Gay/Straight Alliance at my high school that there are differences. Unfortunately, this turned into a situation similar to reading the essays written by my 16/17 year old students. At first, I thought vernacular was being used to set a tone for the book - "mines" instead of "mine," "gonna" instead of "going to," but then I realize that these terms weren't being used in conversations or where you're reading the characters' thoughts. It's also full of slang that I couldn't figure out. She keeps using the term "chrome" and in one place it seemed to indicate a knife and the other a gun. I'm still not sure. There are also words left out, poor sentence structure and the two main characters are bizarre. They're supposed to be best friends, but, at the end of the book I seriously wondered why one of them didn't kill the other one. And I'm a pacifist!
No, I seriously recommend that you spend your money on better books that are out there and avoid this one.
