BOOK 2 of the Bestselling Oakland Hills Series

Twenty-six-year-old Rose Devlin may shop in the plus-size department, but she's never had a problem attracting men--with disastrous consequences. Recovering from her latest mistake, Rose has sworn off casual sex and moved to California to grow up, help her best friend, and make something of herself.

When Rose asks the cute-but-geeky guy next door to help her land a job in high tech, she never expects to unearth his quiet strength, stunning accomplishments--and hidden talents.

With a secret in her own past, Rose tries to keep her distance, but she finds that nerdy Mark isn't so nerdy when the lights go out. And that maybe, just maybe, she's not too grown up to risk one more disaster...

Like her other books, Love Handles and The Supermodel's Best Friend, Galway's newest is top notch in romantic comedy and pure heart. Rose and Mark make a phenomenal couple and just when you think it's hopeless -- love conquers all. Galways really captures the essence of geek culture and strips away, though, at the stereotypes about techies and curvier women. While staying within the standard conventions of the romance genre, Galways creates real, vibrant characters who stick with yo -- and make you want more. I read and loved Love Handles and was happy to see Liam and Bev make an appearance here. If you like Alice Clayton's books you'll love Galway.

"Romantic comedy" is a great description of this book.  It's a really nice romance -- somewhat idealized, of course, because novels are for fantasizing and escaping -- but with plenty of real-life situations and feelings, humor, and a surprising amount of poignancy.  I enjoyed it so much that I immediately purchased "Love Handles" -- which actually comes first in this loosely related series, but "This Time Next Door" was perfectly fine as a standalone story.

This was a fun read and would have been a sweet romance without the graphic sex and loose morals of almost EVERY character! Is this really how young people act today or is it a Californication thing?

Nothing special.
