Meet the Author

Thom Filicia, since gaining fame as the quick-witted and charming interior designer on the Emmy-winning television hit Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, has emerged as one of today's most influential and respected interior designers. Host of the Style Network's top-rated show, Dress My Nest, Thom's projects and ideas have been featured everywhere — from The Oprah Winfrey Show to The New York Times, from Elle Decor to W, and from House Beautiful to InStyle.

Before being catapulted into the national spotlight, Thom established himself as a major player in the design industry through his day-to-day work. After earning his B.A. in design from the prestigious School of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University, he joined Parish-Hadley, one of the country's most distinguished interior design firms. He then worked for renowned designer Jeffrey Bilhuber before founding Thom Filicia, Inc., in 1998. He was named one of House & Garden's Top 50 Tastemakers, one of House Beautiful's Top 100 American Designers, and was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Art Direction for his work on Queer Eye.     Wonderful ideas

    Okay, I will be first to admit that I could never pull off anything that resembles his style, and my husband would throw a fit if I tried. That aside, this is one of my absolute favorite design books ever!!! I found something in every room that spoke to me and influenced my final interior design decisions. His tips (in the process chapter) were extremely helpful in identifying what I needed to consider purchasing to go with what I already had: what elements were missing from each room and possible ways to pull them into my vision. If you are remodeling, seriously consider purchasing this book: you won't regret it.
