Overview

Virtually no subject—politics, slavery, religion, gardening, music, architecture, natural history, or science to name a few—escaped the interest and attention of Thomas Jefferson. Through nearly 800 excerpts of Jefferson's writing, ranging in length from one sentence to nearly a page, Thomas Jefferson: A Chronology of His Thoughts, allows readers to share in Jefferson's greatest triumphs and achievements and reflects on the moments that truly tested the very fiber of his soul, publicly and privately. Editorial Reviews

Booknews
A longtime student of Jefferson concurs with the third US president's opinion that a person's letters form the true journal of his life. Through extensive excerpts of his eclectic writings and introductory commentary, Holmes conveys both his public and private personas. The controversy over Jefferson's alleged affair with his slave, Sally Hemings, is briefly mentioned. Features a chronology, 1743-1826, and Jefferson documents, art, home, and architectural designs. Passion

It is evident the author, has researched extensively, the history of one of the greatest, and most controversial forefathers of our country. The multitalented and multifaceted personality, as well as his passions of the finer things in his life, are brought to life, thru the beautifully descriptive and eloquent letters, by this author, whom you can tell, also has a passion for his subject. I would like to see him continue to write and possibly publish a love story, in his literary future.
