Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Leslie Greaves Radloff
The picture book biography of Thomas Jefferson introduces him to younger readers in an abridged cradle-to-grave biography. The fewer than thirty-two pages also include a time line of his life, additional facts, a glossary, an index, a bibliography (appears to be only series titles on the subject), and a webography. The author gives readers information about Jefferson succinctly, in easy to understand sentences, providing facts such as places and dates which will help those young readers with research projects. Illustrations are double-page spreads with varied text placement. Shorter than a standard picture book and books in the I-Can-Read format, this is targeted for students getting their first exposure to biography. Artwork is not on the level with that of Cheryl Harness and her picture book biographies, nor those by James Cross Giblin. It was difficult to tell if the author and illustrator of this title are the same for all titles in the series. Reviewer: Leslie Greaves Radloff
