Description: This comprehensive book of pulmonary and cardiovascular radiology contains numerous high quality images and tables of differential diagnoses and disease specific radiographic findings.
Purpose: The purpose is to provide a single, comprehensive reference to use in the diagnosis of pulmonary and cardiovascular disease through the interpretation of chest radiographs and advanced imaging techniques. This is definitely a worthwhile objective as the imaging techniques in field of thoracic radiology have seen significant advances but thoracic radiology remains a very challenging area for radiology residents and practicing radiologists. The authors have provided an excellent book that meets their objective.
Audience: The book is written for radiology residents and practicing radiologists. Radiology residents will find this to be a very well written, readable text with excellent images, comprehensive differential diagnoses and numerous tables listing specific disease characteristics. Practicing radiologists will find this to be a valuable reference and review of pulmonary and cardiovascular radiography. The book is written by two of the most respected specialists in thoracic imaging.
Features: It provides an unmatched wealth of thoracic imaging information, including discussions of congenital abnormalities, thoracic anatomy, infectious disease, interstitial lung disease, primary and metastatic neoplasms, and imaging of cardiac disease to name but a few of the many areas covered. The images are of consistently superior quality and the tables throughout the text are very helpful in that they provide a concise summary of each disease entity discussed. Numerous differential diagnoses are provided as well. The index is well organized and allows for quick lookup of desired topics.
Assessment: I have found this to be an excellent book with thorough coverage of pulmonary and cardiac radiography. It provides a single reference text in the field of thoracic imaging for residents in training and practicing radiologists.
