Book Snobs Blog
This story tears your heart right out! The steamy scenes will get your blood boiling and the gut-wrenching emotional turmoil will bring tears cascading. If you're a fan of Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire, I'd highly recommend this read! It's messy, dirty, raw, REAL! The story is beautifully written and keeps you interested with every turn of the page.

Really addictive. Could not put it down! This is my kind of guilty pleasure.

I felt like after Thoughtless I was climbing off of the longest, curviest, craziest roller coaster that I have ever virtually been on. Let me tell you, that is absolutely not a bad thing!

2-1/2 but I'm rounding up...to be nice.

So I'll start by saying this the book started as a solid 5 star read for me. Before I even began, I was convinced I was in for a damn good read. The premise was excellent and hen all the great reviews I was stoked!

As I started reading I felt there was way too much info dump but then I thought okay maybe it's just that I'm anxious to see how the love triangle begins since Denny is so wonderful. How would it even be possible? I started skimming to get to the juicy part of the story. And the writer delivered. I had noticed how often Kiera blushed but it didn't really bother at first because I thought maybe that's her cute quirk. Heroine's often have one. Obviously she blushes A LOT. But by the time she'd blushed about 20 times The story went from a solid 5 to a weak 5.

But the story was still good. So 5 it stayed. Then I started noticing the author's love of adverbs. At first, it was in all the tags which I find to be VERY weak writing. The author chooses to tell me how everyone said everything rather than show me.

He said cautiously.
I said softly.
I smiled goofily. <- really?

After about, I don't know, 30 of these and the read had gone done to a 4 star. But the story still had me. So I read on. The more I read the more the excessive use of adverbs began to irritate me and at this point I began to roll my eyes at the amount of time Kiera blushed and blushed deeply. Note to author you can't say "I blushed" because no one can see themselves blush. However instead of TELLING the reader she blushed you could've (especially since she did it so often, many times at things that didn't even warrant blushing) you could show us. "I felt my cheeks warn." "The heat rushed to my face." But no, the author took the annoyingly lazy way out and chose to tell us about every single time she blushed or blushed deeply.

It seems as the story went on (which could've been so much shorter and written much tighter if SO much of the unnecessary details would have been left out.) The authors love of adverbs grew as passionately <- heh as Kiera and Kellans love did. The adverbs became more blatant. And were suddenly EVERYWHERE and even more than once in a single sentence like in this offensive one.
He smiled goofily as he tilted his head adorably. uugh!

We're down to 3 stars now folks. Every adverb at this point made me cringe, which meant I never stopped cringing!

Then as if that weren't enough the author just began to repeat the same ones over and over.
He looked at me icily then turned coldly.
Dangerously
Uncertainly
I said moodily. <- are you kidding me?! I almost screamed at that one! lol

VERY lazy writing when the you choose to just say angrily rather than try to come up with a more creative way to show he was angry. "He stomped away, red faced slamming the door behind him." Nope, it's much easier to just tell us he left angrily!!!

I was generous with the half star. After I read the consequences I'd had enough and didn't even finish. Sad because the story had such promise.

Not that great

Kira starts out as a solid character and then just falls a part. I mean if I can get through all the blushes and heated checks I made me so sick in the end I wanted to gag. This book takes way ,way too long to get to where it's going. Your really fine with screwing you boyfriend's best friend when he's away and then he comes back. You start sleeping with your boyfriend meanwhile your kissing and snuggling with his best friend but that's okay as long as your not having sex with him it's okay. Really? I would have loved this book if Kira and kellan had a juicy affair behind Denny's back. This book is like bad Fanficton. . read Beautiful Disaster instead.

Highly Recommend

After finishing the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy, I was in search of another amazing love story with hot sex scenes. This book was a good read. I disagree with those who hated Kiera because of the choices that she made. She was young, inexperieced, and definately insecure, so it would have been dishonest to have her handle the situation of the love triangle in a rational, mature manner. The questions of passion vs. security, risk vs. comfort, and knowing the difference between loving someone vs. being in love with someone are confounding, and it was quite a rush riding the emotional rollercoaster of this book. I gave it 4 stars for false advertising. This book was categorized as Erotic Romance, but compared to 50 Shades, the sex scenes were like fat-free vanilla...okay if you're on a diet, but not really satisfying.

So drawn out

I'm not understanding the love...it was ok. I despised the main character, thought Kellan cried too much, and Denny was a fool. How is this a love story when she loved neither enough to choose and only did when there was no choice? Not the kind of love story I like. I did read and love 50Shades and dont find this story captivating in the slightest...

Worst book I ever purchased!!! The first part of this book kept me interested until the love triangle began. The more I read, the more I dislike Kiera. She's a two timing Witch. The worst part of the story is she sleeps with her boyfriend and cheats on him with his roommate, not once but repeatedly. I purchased this book based on the high rating. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!! I would have given it a Zero if possible. I was so disappointed that I had to write a review.

Loved this story!!! Must read!!!

I loved this book. It really touched my heart. I did not always agree with the characters, but I was always moved by them. I can't wait to read book 2. It is so rare to find a book that gives you such an emotional connection the characters. This author is now on my auto buy list.

Recommend!

I really liked this book... Once I started it, I could not put it down and actually stayed up until 5:00 am to finish it because I just had to know who Kiera ended up with. I fell in love with Kellan almost immediately but wasn't that crazy about Kiera's boyfriend Denny. This book is actually listed under erotica, however that is probably a little misleading. Although the book does have some really hot and steamy parts, it doesn't get too explicit. I was really pleased with the length of the book vs cost also. On my nook, the book had over 1200 pages. The author did repeat alot of the same words/phases that got on my nerves (always talking about her blush-I mean really...how many times do you have to tell us she is shy?)but all of that said, I would definately recommend this book to anyone who wants to fall in love with a rock n' roll bad boy that looses his heart to the girl next door. I really hope the author writes Griffins story now!!

I absolutely love this book, I love how you get to know each character and what they are feeling. Everything is described so well, you can picture it all like it is happening in front of you. This is truly a great love story. I would love to see it as a movie. I will definitely be reading this over again!

Loved the story, but it does drag on a bit. The constant backpedling and immaturity of Kiera gets old towards the end. I'd like to read the second installment of the series "Effortless" but it isn't available through Barnes and Noble. Please bring "Effortless" to Nookbook!

I liked this book but at the same time found it very annoying. First of all it was way too long, some parts really dragged and there was so much back and forth, back and forth, I started thinking come on already. Though I liked the character of Kellan I did not care for the character of Keira at all.
