    Missed the Boat

This book was a sorry excuse for someone's life story. Not only is it chock-full of typos and spelling errors, but it's loaded with contradictions that leave the reader confused and questioning the book's validity. This story has all of the elements of a great page turner, but it falls short. What could have been an excellent book about one man's fall into drug addiction is so poorly written that the message is diminished. Jon Vincent never really seems sorry for the way he treated people. Perhaps he was, but you don't get that from the way the book is written. I also think Mr. Vincent was intoxicated (high) while recording many of his notes for this book as there are so many contradictions and senseless ramblings - things an editor or the author should have addressed. Sorry Jon. You're friends behind this book failed you.

    BLISTERINGLY HONEST

I was a Jon Vincent (Jeff Vickers) fan since his first video "Heavenly" in 1988 and met him at one of his live shows at the Show Palace in New York. Nothing prepared me for his story. He and his co-author Hope Carson hold nothing back. If there's a more realistic, painful account of the horrors of drug addiction, I can't imagine it. They make you feel every needle, every detox. If Jon's intent was to educate the world about drug addiction, he succeeded brilliantly. There isn't a page in this book that isn't riveting--from his days as a baseball player, bodybuilder, escort, and video star, its all here in riveting detail. He doesn't come across as a very likable person in much of the book because he's such a mess, but underneath you know that there was a nice guy with wasted talent who was riddled with addictions that led him to acts that he never would have done otherwise. My only complaint is that the pictures are skimpy. Some shots from his films and magazine layouts would have been welcome. RIP Jeff.
