My favorite book and probably the first book I was given as a child, Mister Dog is one of the hard to find, yet best loved books by Margaret Wise Brown, author of Goodnight Moon and Runaway Bunny. Mister Dog, the dog who belonged to himself is a story of Crispan Crispian, a dog who is self sufficient. He meets a boy , who also belongs to himself and together they become friends. Crispan Crispian is a dog that likes things in there right place, he is a 'conservative'. It's a charming story illustrated by Garth Williams, first Published in 1952, it has been out of print for over 20 years. Now back in print in this collection and in May 2003 as a Little Golden Book, a new generation of readers will enjoy this important book for the young and not so young.
