Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jody Little
The monster Three Claws can do cool tricks with the claw on his head. He can climb mountains, catch fish, and even open cans. All the other monsters like Three Claws but there is just one problem: Three Claws has terrible breath because he eats only raw fish. The other monsters try to get Three Claws to eat their food but he refuses. The other monsters have a meeting about Three Claws and his horrible breath. They decide to send Three Claws up to the top of the mountain where he can watch for hunters and scare them with his bad breath. Three Claws goes to the mountain top where it is cold and lonely, but he opens a can of his smelly fish and he feels at home. The illustrations are simple, but some young readers may find them humorous. The story may leave readers puzzled by the motivations of the other monsters. A list of vocabulary words and discussion ideas for parents are included. "Monster Friends" series. Reviewer: Jody Little
