Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Based on the principles outlined in Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich, authors and veteran financial officers Lechter and Reid craft an engaging allegory to illustrate Hill's principals of success. Readers follow everyman Greg as he pursues happiness and success with the help of fictional guru Jonathan Buckland, who arranges a series of meetings and experiences which ultimately guide readers to better understand the mindset which leads to success. Like Hill, Lechter and Reid believe that, though "there are many things you cannot control," the factors critical to success are within an individuals' control: namely, "your mind and your attitude." As such, each short, story-driven chapter includes quotes from Hill and other luminous successes, while taking Greg point-by-point through acquiring knowledge (about vision, opportunity, taking action, following through and more), and applying it. Readers won't ever get bored with Lechter and Reid's brisk text, and it's ameliorated by plenty of review. Big ideas are developed artfully by revisiting and building upon previously introduced concepts. This volume should interest both sophisticated and novice followers of Napoleon Hill, or anyone looking for a practical take on the power of a positive outlook

    Three feet from boredom!

I actually got a copy of this book on Ebay. I lost interest very rapidly reading this. I actually gave it some time after realizing a couple of chapters into this book that I was wasting my time. The only thing I got from this book was that I have created another obstacle in my life. Creating obstacles into opportunities...The only opportunity I hopefully will get from reading this is making 1 penny more relisting this terrible book on ebay than what I paid for it!

    More Millionaire Mentor rubish

Rubbish! Another "re-written" book that does not contain anything original whatsoever! How many times must we see these so called "self-help" gurus take quotes and stories from other people's work and re-arrange the letters and words and call themselves "authors, motivators, and mentors"? I'll save you all the money on this book. Step 1. Look at yourself in the mirror and say you're the best! Step 2. When feeling weak, tired, and unsure of yourself, repeat step 1.

Story is kind of hokie, but the bullet points and bold face priciples are paramount to moving forward. Good book for everyone, buy and pass one on.

Good read, great principles, buy one for you and others.

    I Also Recommend:

Three Feet from Gold...three steps from the summit, three yards from the end zone. Reid and Lechter deliver a quick and easy read that is remarkably powerful in concept while containing many ready to implement tools and methods.

Sorting through many leadership books on an ongoing basis, one finds little to differentiate or separate one from another. Common themes are highlighted and slight variations of tried and true methods are regurgitated for the reader as if a new path has been found or a new road has been developed. Three Feet from Gold is not just another example of that same book that has been rewritten many times over.

Unique in the simplicity of the story telling and the common sense approach of the gathering of knowledge as well as in the pursuit of application of it; it is a quick and enjoyable read, concepts are easy to digest, and it is very powerful in purpose and direction.

Application is far stretching in terms of allowing the reader the ability to be reminded of common sense approaches through a new set of glasses, and then encouraging the reader through example being demonstrated how tools and methods can be applied in many facets of their life moving forward. I bought this book and made it required reading for my Executive Leadership team in hopes that lessons could be utilized to help them develop and improve as leaders, as individuals able to impact societal change, and as friends, spouses, and parents.

May you race through this book multiple times and use it to develop, construct, refine, foster, or further your own individual success equation.

    Thought provoking and inspirational

This book is very interesting and was timely when I read it, as I was just starting a new non profit and often questioned the sanity of taking on such a venture. It inspired me to move forward and affirmed that I needed to move forward. The ending I found a bit soft and often questioned the choice to use his story as the framework for delivering the message....

Timeless. Nothing new but that's kind of the point. Would have enjoyed the presentation in a fresher format. Had to push myself a little to finish it.

    I Also Recommend:

    A Book for All

When I purchased this book, I was unsure about it; I've read self-dev books before and some talk in platitudes without anything really substantative that you can take and go with. Not this book! It is packed with the stories and lessons that many successful business leaders have used to help them get where they are today and presented in a way that the reader can take these lessons and apply them to his/her life. The book starts off by laying the groundwork of a story about a man that's going through a low point in his life, so I wasn't sure about this at first. But, as it continues, the reader gets drawn in to the lessons that Greg receives from many successful leaders. A resounding theme throughout is "don't quit!", whatever your endeavor. One of the best parts of this book is the formula for determining your passion and what you will stick with; I've read books that tell you about working with your passion, but not one that helps you determine what you're passionate about. The book also makes many references to an earlier written self-dev book, entitled "Think and Grow Rich", on which this book is based.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone seeking to find their passion or anyone looking to make a change in their life--professional or personal.

    Thought Provoking!

This is by far a motivating and inspirational read. I was lucky enough to access the book prior to its publication. It is a great way of showing you how to confront challenges and grow from, and see obstacles as part of the journey. I have been unemployed for a year; I have started to wonder what it was that I was doing wrong until I had the opportunity to read this book! I have not read 'Think and Grow Rich' but I am encouraged to do so. Three Feet from Gold is exactly the book I needed to read to get up and going! What is great is that it is a true story! Thank You!
