Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
These three little pigs are now safe living in their brick house, but the big bad wolf still wants to play tricks. He tries to apologize while the pigs just ignore him and continue making gingerbread. The wolf threatens to blow the house down, but knows that he cannot. In the meantime, the Gingerbread Man has finished baking and pushes his way out of the oven. It is the Gingerbread Man who refuses to let the wolf in and uses the familiar expression "not by the hair on my chinny chin chin!" The wolf undeterred tries to enter the house via the chimney, but most of the readers will suspect what happens next. The ending is not quite as expected, but the result is the same. The closing page has notes for adults as well as suggestions for activities before and after reading the book. "Tadpole Fairytale Jumbles" are designed for transitional and early fluent readers. They are humorous stories with a unique twist on traditional tales. Fairy tales are a key type of literary text found in the Common Core Standards. This is a Guided Reading Level E text.
