    Melanie went through it all...

This was a quick read that will put you through all types of emotions. Melanie had it rough...but she has learned a valuable lesson through it all! This author has brought awareness to many issues such as bullying, molestation, physical and emotional abuse to name a few. I recommend this book with promises of an encouraging message! Thx Krystol

    Coming Out of the Dark

Author Krystol introduces us to Melanie Woodard, a young African-American girl who's had it rough since she entered this world. She was born a premature baby weighing one pound to a mom strung out on drugs. Constant bullying for the color of her skin, molestation, and death are some of the issues Melanie has to deal with at an early age. As Melanie enters her young adult life, she is still trying to find her place in this world. She goes from one abusive relationship to the next without truly learning the lesson that each situation presents. You will find yourself crying for, screaming at, and cheering for Melanie as she fights her way through it all. Will Melanie ever be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel?

"Through Her Eyes" is a fast read. I would recommend this book to young female readers, so if they ever find themselves in similar situations as the main character they will know what not to do. The book would have been a perfect read if the author had developed the characters more. I felt as though there could have been more development to the story and characters.

    AAMBC Book Reviews

"Through Her Eyes" by Krystol is the story of Melanie Woodard and her life. She has had it rough from birth and deals with a laundry list of tragic events in her life from the death of a loved one, a drug addicted mother, molestation as a young child and several messy relationships. Through it all Melanie preserves and in the end finds her version of happiness.

As a reader, I had a hard time getting into this story and caring about the characters. The characters are not fully developed and situations are explained at random. Several times I had to stop and reread a section to try to figure out what happened or who was this new person in the scene. Overall, it was a confusing story and I cannot recommend this book.

This author does have the talent to put a story together but lacks the skills to connect with the reader. Fortunately, that skill can be learned. Once the author masters the art of "show" don't "tell", she will be a force to be reckoned with in the literary world.
