General Stanislav Lunev tells it as it was and remains, Intel can be a deeply rewarding military career, or a lifetime of regrets or both at once. As a US Veteran I laughed at the typical SNAFU's of the Generals experiences and how they typified my own. There are some minor errors on what he believes Americans actually knew about the deal ending the 'Caribbean Crisis' with the US giving up obsolete missiles that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, however, those errors are forgivable considering the sacrifices he has made to expose what his government knew over the course of decades, and what they allowed their own people to be told. The truth is governments only manage to keep secrets from its own people, no matter how free they believe they are. By the end of this book, I wept aloud for my former adversary, a job well done, and a lesson our lawyers on welfare (Politicians) should learn from before its too late. Warfare is not performed under 'Gentleman's Rules' such as the Geneva Convention, those who do not follow rules will torture your soldiers while you treat their combatants like kings. John McCain should know this, but he was born in mink diapers, otherwise, he never would have returned from Vietnam, so, he and his ilk still have no clue. Through the Eyes of the Enemy should have been an eye opener to our Congresscritters in 1998. Unfortunately, like the Russian Mafia, our elected officials only care about themselves, and General Lunev's words of warning fell upon deaf ears! General Lunev, I respect your service as my worthy opponent. If you would have been an American Officer, and I your subordinate, I would have followed you to the gates of hell and back! Welcome to America!!!
